About Heartless & Dreadful : Return by 72 Hours

In the world of darkness. There is an interesting being.

A being who holds a tournament for the strong. They call him the Master of Darkness.

Why does he hold a tournament? No one knows. Some say it enjoys the sight of young blood being spilled. Some say it is for other, unknown motives.

The Master of Darkness knew that no one would just come forward and spill their blood for him for no reason... so he offered a reward.

A wish. Anything the victorious team could wish for would be granted to each of its members.

Shamir, one of the leading demon lords, and his small team, Dominika and Kair, are on a winning streak, getting closer and closer to their goal... Ever since they heard about the tournament, they've been working hard to get to the top.

Everything was going well... Until a fateful moment...

Welcome to Heartless & Dreadful!

Heartless & Dreadful is a character action game, mostly made by one person. It features complex combat systems, light platforming elements, a short story campaign with multiple brutal difficulty options that allow for quite a bit of replayability, and additional unlockable modes and content.

* Play as an edgelord, just like in 2000s.
- There are no good guys in this story. Just pure silly edge. After all, don't you just want to go crazy for once?

* Classic character-action game shenanigans.- It’s fast, fluid, and flashy, just like in the classics.

* A dark... but light-hearted world.- The world of this game is dark, but not depressing. It's full of light-hearted moments that doesn't take itself too seriously.

* And at last... the difficulty.- Yes, this game is hard. But it’s also fair. Once you will learn the depths of it, you'll feel the thrill of the combat that will make you come back for more.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Estimated time to complete the entire story on the first playthrough is approximately 3-5 hours. What you see is what you get.

Pretty deep mechanically, a lot of style and 2000's edgy humor and story, it's so much fun I love it. As a combo type of action game is cool, multiple weapons and unlockable combos/skills and when you beat the game you have more characters with their own depth and complexity (and even other game modes to play around), there's so much to do and so many surprises it makes it absolutely worth it. It's so easy to tell the love and effort put into this, extremely enjoyable, also the dev is pretty responsive to bug reports. 100% recommended. 100 % recomendado.

I was going to write a positive review and just complain about big empty levels. The combat is done well and the developer has clearly put a lot of effort into it. But then I reached mission 5. This level took me 34 minutes to beat, and it only had, like, 5 combat encounters. There wasn't even any dialogue, just big ugly empty spaces, slowly moving platforms, and levers ("a door has opened somewhere"). I don't want anyone else to go through this torture.

This is a very budget character action title. While it is rough around the edges, I found it fun and charming. Time to beat the main campaign on Normal was about 6 1/2 hours (and I'm sure it's because I got stuck on a certain boss near the end). The levels have lots of goodies to find, and there's a lot of post-game content. There's even a turbo mode! My only real gripe is that the bosses aren't a lot of fun, but most of them weren't too difficult to fight, and the game gives you a powerful helper for the late-game boss rush. Word of warning, Shamir is a bit float-y compared to certain family of white-haired demon hunters. It's nothing too major, but I did need to adjust a bit.

It's a really good slasher. Not much else to say. Art, character designs and their gameplay are good. As another reviewer said, it's story and humor have that 2000's edge (the good sort). Plenty of unlockables.

Very good game, has a lot of slick combo options. I'll probably write a longer review when I finish it.
