About Lacuna: Prologue
Lacuna: Prologue tasks you – CDI agent Neil Conrad – with investigating the murder of a high-profile victim whose death could plunge the solar system into war. Solve the first in a series of connected cases that lead you deeper and deeper into the conspiracy at the core of this captivating 2D sci-fi noir adventure. Another cigarette tumbles into the abyss. The sun is slowly coming up, glistening in the sea of buildings below.
I look up at the stars one last time before they disappear. They don't provide any guidance. They don't give a f*ck.
I have to make this decision on my own, and very soon. Problem is, I don't know how. I've never been able to figure out why I do what I do. Not really.
No more time to think. I have to go.
Here's the deal
You are Neil Conrad, CDI agent. Awoken by the news of a murder, you rush into a case that will soon turn your life and the whole solar system upside down. Ask questions, collect evidence, and put the pieces together until the ugly truth reveals itself... or not.
No takebacks
The story branches and ends based on your actions. There's no going back. Sure, you can rush your way to the end – if you don't mind paying the price. Play your cards right, and you might make it out alive.
How far will you go?
Some questions don't have a right answer. Will you sell out a friend to protect your family? Will you endanger a loved one in exchange for public safety? Will you keep the peace or reveal the horrible, world-shattering truth?
Hungry for Point & Click Adventure?
While the classics were great in their time, Lacuna does away with the baggage of many adventure game tropes:
-
Pointing & clickingPlatformer movement controls (WASD / controller) -
Selecting all dialog options one by one anywayNon-repeating conversations and choices -
Inventory management and counter-intuitive puzzlesImmersive, story-driven mysteries -
Pixel huntingOptional outlines on anything interactable - Story
grinds to a halt at every puzzlecan always be driven forward -
"x will remember this"Real choices and multiple endings
What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
"Lacuna: Prologue" is not a game. It's an advertisement for a product called "Lacuna". Lacuna is a badly received, arguably failed 2D retro pixel adventure game designed for the Nintendo Switch, that only garnered a couple of hundred players at most (considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam, a couple of hundred is in the margin of error for "zero"). But this isn't completely relevant because this is not Lacuna, it's just an advertisment for it, so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product. We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. If you enjoy advertisements, you can consume them for free on the web or on Youtube without needing to add them to your game library, download them, and then launch the advertising. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "Lacuna: Prologue" too. The purpose of this advertisement is to get you to pay out a whopping SIXTEEN BUCKS for the Nintendo Switch pixelcrap game here on Steam. Delusional, right? No pixelcrap is worth $16. If amateur devs want to get paid the same kind of money as real d…1 found this helpful
A stylish and engaging narrative experience with a strong visual identity. The investigation elements are well done and keep the gameplay interesting, while the narration adds a lot to the overall atmosphere. A solid and enjoyable prologue that leaves a great impression.

I don't like that you can't save and load whenever you want. But other than that, there were no major issues.
Cool demo. A bit short, though. I'll try to get the full game on sale.
