Mars vs. Robots

This is actually a very fun game once you learn the mechanics, the only downfall is it doesnt have an endless mode. Big props to the maker.

Mars vs. Robots is a small free roguelike survival game where I am trying to defend Mars from waves of robots while also mining resources and building up my defences. The idea is pretty simple, but I like the combination of resource gathering, turret building and direct shooting because I am not just sitting behind a wall waiting for everything to happen. I have to keep the planet's core protected while also making sure I have enough materials and weapons to survive the next attack. The mining system gives the game a useful reason to move around instead of staying in one place. I can use mining machines to gather materials, explore different terrain and then spend what I collect in the shop. Those resources let me buy items and build turrets, so there is a nice connection between what I do during the quieter parts of a run and how strong my defence becomes when the robots arrive. I like that the game makes me think about preparing for the next wave rather than only reacting once enemies are already attacking. I also enjoy being able to fight directly. I can use guns, rockets, explosives and other weapons against the incoming enemies while my machines and turrets help protect the …

Short, fun, easy to understand, free. I wish there was more to this game, such as an endless mode or as the levels progress, so does your ability to add more defenses. You can become incredibly over powered with, just 1 or 2, 3 slot turrets and then go afk. By the time you've gotten into a groove, the level ends. Still incredibly fun for what it is. Good job dev!

Honestly really good for a free-to-play game. It takes a little while to figure things out, but once it clicks, it's a lot of fun demolishing everything Mars throws at you. One piece of advice: turn on auto-loot as soon as possible, unless you want sore fingers from constantly picking everything up. My only real complaint is the loot collection in the later stages. A magnet range upgrade in the perk pool would be a huge quality-of-life improvement, because late game involves quite a bit of running around gathering drops. Other than that, a surprisingly fun and addictive game. Haha.

+Free -No mouse / controller invert option = utterly unplayable -No mouse option in the whole main menu?! -Terrible tutorialization -> the game begins by you spawning with a three boxes ahead of you. Move towards them and you get an onscreen message of "left mouse to build" -> nothing happens, your left mouse shoots a weapon if you have it selected from your quick items. One enemy spawns. You kill it. Nothing happens. "What am I supposed to do?", thinks a first time player at this point. After running around for a while I noticed a red button. "Refresh mine". Okay, mine door closed and opened. I went in, shot some rocks or whatever and got some scrap. Looks like it's cleared. Some timers are running on the side? No idea what these bars are. New wave? New mine? Death by snu-snu? I run out of the mine and there's a store. Two of the items required cash I didn't have on top of the scraps I did have, so I bought the only item available for the scraps. "A mk1 bomb/grenade or whatever." I change to equip it through the quick panel just to see how it works in combat before such might begin ...aaaand it's gone. Nothing indicated it's a consumable for a new player. Instead the game di…
