About My Life As An Alchemist

My Life As an Alchemist turns the Survivor genre on its head by removing all the enemies. In this game, your objective is to brew the ultimate potion but to achieve this, you must first enhance your skills through 10 waves of ingredient harvesting and potion crafting. Failure to concoct a successful potion in any wave will result in defeat.

Take on tougher potion recipes as you progress, pushing your skills to the limit as you venture into trickier biomes to gather ingredients. Chug potions to sprint faster, hit harder or find more and rarer ingredients! But watch out for the wild weather changes with each new wave—tornadoes might swipe your hard-earned fruits or rocks, volcanic eruptions could burn you up, and a full moon will turn you into a beast!

Craft your potions and experiment with adding extra or higher-quality ingredients to the base recipes to boost your stats and unlock extra effects. Test your skills in a challenging mini-game that gets tougher as you progress! Prioritize one potion's quality or try to complete them all!

Pick different characters, artifacts and weapons every run for ever-changing gameplay suited to your style! Every character comes with a different base weapon and artifact, but more can be found along your run, granting drastically different effects. Specialize in one type of resource, of weapon, bringing the maximum quantity of ingredient every wave or simply the best quality, it's up to you!

Complete different achievements in order to unlock more artifacts and more characters for even more varied future runs!

Abandoned by dev with achievement and gameplay breaking bugs. spend your money elsewhere5 found this helpful
(my actual playtime is longer than what's shown. It's closer to 2.5 or 3 hours) The price would be perfectly fine, since there's actually a decent game here, if not for the fact that it's hidden underneath a pile of horrible bugs and strange UX decisions. The biggest issue is the softlock bug that happens almost every single game with the shooting minigame, and the fact that this bug hasn't been addressed in the last 2+ months since its release. But that is far from the only problem. Another bug is that the "wave countdown" will sometimes bug out, causing the audio of the countdown to finish twice as fast as the visual (and "real") countdown for the wave, which also causes the screen to go super dark the whole wave. Then there's another bug that stops the tooltips that explain the stats from popping up. This bug happened so often that I never got to read the majority of the tooltips. Apparently there's also another bug that just stops some resources from spawning, though I never went long enough without being softlocked to see it. Besides that awful (but fixable) list of bugs, there's also just a bunch of weird UI/UX decisions. The UI is really awkward to use in many small ways…2 found this helpful

Game play loop is pretty creative and fun. You enter a zone that give certain resources depending on what you break. You choose 3 potions of various effects you are trying to complete. Then you run around trying to grab exactly those ingredients. There is then a cannon mini game that also increase in difficult every level. However this game is HARD. it kind of feels like it needs a balance patch? Maybe a little more time per level or faster attacking across the board. For example it often feels like there is barely enough time to grab the resources you need, and even if you do grab all the things you need, during the cannon mini game if you miss or land in wrong bucket the potion will not be completed. You must complete at least one potion to continue. Personal I have yet to make it past 3-4 rounds. I really enjoy the game, but admittedly getting frustrated that I cant seem to get farther. TLDR: not for the casual but if you like a challenge might be up your alley
I would recommend watching game play videos an determine yourself. I see the complaint about the potion process, but as a fan o Vampire Survivors this scratches that itch and does it differently enough I come back to it for short bursts and enjoy the difference and play loop I dont just question why I am no playing that when getting some short burst fun. Honestly the shorter game loop here really works for that on the go or less down time. I is worth it if knowing what your getting into and thin meh it looks nice . edit I should fix the typos, but I will butcher something else using touch screen.
the game is fun but i also have one problem can not do the basic witch achivment since i can not find one artifact but the game is fun for some time it dose need a bit of improvement some characters are annoying to finish with but all doable
