Alright. Mystery Stories: Mountains of Madness is done and dusted. It's been a while since I read At the Mountains of Madness, but it was always my favorite H.P. Lovecraft story, so I was curious to see how Cerasus treated the source material here. And actually, they did a pretty good job of using the source material as a solid canvas but giving the story their own spin. Which I did like. In point of fact, without getting into spoilers, I think they offered a cool take on things. As a hidden object game, I think this also did a good job of not being too obtuse, both with item placement for the actual hidden object screens, and in general with the progression puzzles. Outside of the final puzzle, which I thought was reasonably challenging, everything felt just challenging enough to make you think a little bit, but not so much that you ever think you're really going to get stumped. In other words, it's pretty easy, but not so easy that it gets boring. And there is a decent variety of puzzles, which was nice to see. The graphics in this one are classic modern era HOG fare. But of course, with a Lovecraftian twist. It's a nice-looking game, and while you …26 found this helpful
Wow! The Developers who made this game... Actually gave a damn about it!! I've never read the story that this H.O.G. is based on, but it's making me want to freaking read it!! Not only care and love went into making the game... It also went into details... Artwork... Puzzles and well... EVERYTHING!!! It's both mysterious and interesting at the same time. That and at the end? You are made to work for it! They made a damn intense situation!! And I felt it. Every bit of it! <- This is also coming from a person who doesn't even get fazed if a H.O.G. has a timer or not... XD Beautiful and crazy. Can't give these awesome Developers enough credit. Thank you and... This was amazing!!! To think after 200+ H.O.Gs... I was able to find a really good one... :')2 found this helpful
Standard HOPA as far as gameplay, though I found it a bit too easy even on expert mode. As an homage to Lovecraft, it is fantastic. The art work was beautiful. I wish it were higher resolution though. As another user said, if you like Lovecraft and HOPA games, you'll like this,
Good Game Thnx for the Dutch Subtitles
loved it
horrible graphics for supposedly being released in '23. its likely a mobile port but thats the actual issue with those.. just slap them on pc and charge triple the price of what it was/is on mobile again for old crap thats horrible to look at by pc standards.( even by mobile standards nowadays lol... especially looking at you, ARTIEX MUNDI and BIG FISH) and all they usually do is changing input from touch to mouse and keyboard, which obviously is so much work that they just HAVE to charge so much.. this game at least didnt overcharge like other scummy publishers but still.. not even 1080p and its just too annoying to spot items you might or might not be able to interact with. plus absolute useless hint system. unless youre really desperate for a HOG dont buy this.. the curator who rated this as decent graphics should get his eyes checked!
