About NOT A HERO

✦ AI summary

A quirky cover-based shooter where you manage a motley crew of heroes tackling crime across three city districts while building political support for a time-traveling rabbit mayoral candidate. Packed with dynamic missions, nine unique playable characters with distinct abilities, and frantic run-and-gun gameplay that blends tactical cover mechanics with absurdist humor and creative destruction.

Professional assassin turned amateur campaign manager Steve is charged with cleaning up the city by an anthropomorphic rabbit and mayoral candidate from the future named BunnyLord. Now Steve and his expanding roster of dubious heroes must wield their unique skills to shoot, slide, dive, and take cover behind a political platform built on ethics, accountability, and an inordinate amount of gunfire. Eliminate the criminal underworld of the city’s three major districts and persuade undecided voters to your cause, tackling the issues that matter by putting a gun in the mouth of those issues.

Through the power of ISO-Slant™ technology and a wasted youth, London-based developer Roll7 (OlliOlli) delivers the greatest 2¼D cover-based indie shooter of all-time, ever.

Next Level Shootouts – Use reasonable force unreasonably in a dynamic mix of run-and-gun gameplay and cover-based shootouts. The intuitive quick-snap cover system lets you slide, roll, and dive into cover, dodging enemy fire before fighting back with tackles, executions, and 100s of bullets.

Roster of Not Heroes - Select between 9 different heroes, each with their own distinct gameplay style and crime murdering abilities. Blast the city’s scum through doors with Cletus’ a shotgun, slice them in half with Kimmy’s katana dash, or simply bash crime in it’s terrible face with Ronald’s hammer.

Dynamic Missions – Go ham on primary objectives and (sometimes random) secondary goals but be prepared for unexpected mid-level events that turn the tables on the anti-heroes in an instant. SWAT teams, gun-toting elderly, helicopter gunships, pandas, pugs and suicidal samurais stand between you and victory.

ABOUT ISO-Slant™ TECHNOLOGY

Developed over six years and $22.5 million, the revolutionary ISO-Slant™ technology enables game developers to reach the sweet spot between 2D and 2½D perspectives. Through the liberal, almost irresponsible use of ISO-Slant™, Not a Hero developer Roll7 is able to radically alter the standard 2D pixel art action game into an unbelievable 2¼D visual tour de force. For more information or to license ISO-Slant™ for your own purposes please contact the ISO-Slant™ team at @ISOSlant on Twitter.

NOT A HERO is a frantic side-scrolling action shooter that embraces absurdity from the very beginning and never lets up. Developed by Roll7 and published by Devolver Digital, the game revolves around the unlikely political campaign of BunnyLord, a time-traveling anthropomorphic rabbit determined to become mayor in order to save the future. While the premise sounds ridiculous, the game uses this bizarre setup as a foundation for a surprisingly polished and highly entertaining action experience. It combines intense gunfights, dark humor, and stylish presentation into a package that feels distinct from nearly every other shooter in its genre. At its core, the game focuses on fast-paced cover-based combat. Rather than encouraging players to slowly advance through levels, NOT A HERO rewards constant movement and aggressive decision-making. Sliding into cover, leaning out to fire, performing executions, and diving across the battlefield become second nature after only a short time. The mechanics are simple enough to learn quickly but contain enough depth to keep encounters exciting throughout the campaign. Every firefight demands quick reactions and smart positioning, creating a sense o…

Such an underrated gem! +++Adrenaline! Gameplay is fire! Fast, explosive, tight and BunnyLord-awesome! ++Soundtrack is a banger! +Super cool characters, with funny voice lines and their own personalities +Easy to get into, harder to reach all the objectives. Levels are short and if you make a mistake it's an instant retry, very similar to Hotline Miami. Vote BunnyLord!

Never really wrote a review before but this game was so fun i played a lot on nintendo switch long time before, its truly a one of kind gem with its design choices and gameplay and i find it truely disspointing there isnt more, this game is fast paced action and just gives you a tutorial and drops kicks you into action immeditally and its hella fun even when it seems unfair its quickly replacable my joy or spite that you finally won or killed that annoying enemy that you hated. The humor is meh i guess if your used to today's standards but it's still fun only really during intermissions or enemy voicelines. Even for how there barely any special items or unique character interactions during a level it still feels like you have plenty of ways to beat a level or deal with certain enemy's you kinda can make challenges for yourself. The characters are really fun to play as you get used to them, tho the characters you unlock later are way stronger then at the start none of them feel equal to the others especially mike or kimmy there is a reason why their only unlockable late game. for the dlc i feel like it made the game so much better and only real change is some new interactions and bu…

Not sure how I never reviewed this game. It's been years since I played it but this game is like a virus. I had to hide it from myself to stop playing it. Love the quirky characters and humor. I am itching to play it again.
