About Princess Maker 2 Regeneration
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of “Princess Maker 2,” Bliss Brain Co., Ltd. is releasing “Princess Maker 2: Regeneration”.
The “Princess Maker” series pioneered the social simulation genre, allowing the player to act as a father who raises a young girl, and it continues to be popular to this day.
Among the many titles in the series, “Princess Maker 2” is the most popular. This year marks 30 years since the original release of “Princess Maker 2” (PC-9801 ed.) in 1993. In this title, the graphics were newly redrawn by Takami Akai, who directed production and worked on character design for the original “Princess Maker” series at Gainax.
“Princess Maker 2” is a childrearing simulation game in which the player experiences being the father to a daughter granted to them by the stars.
They raise the girl for eight years, from ages ten to eighteen. Your daughter grows up to be an adult through various experiences in the game. The girl’s dream is to become a princess, but a wide variety of opportunities await depending on how you raise her. What kind of dream will you make come true for this girl?
This title is based on “Princess Maker 2: Refine,” released in 2004. Especially important graphics were redrawn by Takami Akai in a style similar to the PC-98 version. The graphics are drawn in high resolution befitting modern game systems, with a commitment to quality in the details.
An opening animation by Yonago Gainax has been added to the game. The animation, drawn by a team led by Takami Akai, envisions the future the player will have as the “father” with their “daughter”.
This title is a social simulation, so it is very important to always be aware of your daughter's status and use this to raise her.
In “Regeneration”, parameters for assessing your daughter's status are always available, so you can check on her at a glance. Check what you should do for your daughter’s future, and raise her carefully.
Message from Takami Akai
I am deeply grateful to see that “Princess Maker 2”, which came out 30 years ago, is still so beloved by so many fans that we can release a new version. This time I was finally able to redo the graphics, which I had always wanted to do. Please enjoy the newly redrawn vacations and endings.

All right, I have played a few versions of this game so my review is more going to focus on this re-release versus the game itself. But to sum up - I've always been a fan of this odd little series and getting official English releases of them was an unexpected windfall. You basically spend most of the game staring at stats and watching animations, with some of it broken up by simplistic dungeon crawling. But all of that stuff makes a surprisingly addicting game about raising a child, with all kinds of weird twists and turns and the amusement of realizing how your parenting is turning out because of some of the wacky options you have to play with. So this already has a Refine version, what's different about this one? Would I recommend it over Refine? Well... I would say yes, but there's some caveats here. Big one is it's not THAT different despite costing almost twice as much. The biggest advantage this version offers is a better gameplay experience since it was developed for modern hardware - less weird bugs, fullscreen actually works well, and the translation is new and handled by actual English-speaking human beings. The translation being *competent* in a game that requires so…10 found this helpful
Buy the other remaster of PM2 (Refine), it's significantly better.4 found this helpful
There's nothing wrong with this version of the game. I understand being unsatisfied that this game isn't different enough from Refine to be worth paying again but it does run better than Refine and if you don't already own refine, there's no reason to buy it instead of this version.2 found this helpful
I don't know how to give reviews, bro, I just liked raising my daughter. :31 found this helpful
I have mixed feelings on this one. A goddess decides hey have this kid i found and help her grow up into a model citizen. I feel the dungeon exploring is a bit convoluted and difficult to understand. led to alot of working one job till saving to learn an different trait that may or may not work for you1 found this helpful
players may not be able to afford her daughter's education after gold enters the red zone
