I quit at the 11th mission because I can't find the things I need to blow up. The HUD is near useless in all occasions, but is absolutely worthless in the canyons. A shame, as I've mostly enjoyed it up until now. The game isn't particularly difficult or even all that engaging. Mission variety is pretty small. The systems you're supposed to be going to are not within Sol, but might as well be because we see planets from our solar system. It's a weird disconnect. Voice acting is mostly good, but occasionally laughable with some odd pronunciation issues. Flying around shooting things is fair enough, but unless you're using your research for speed you'll just find yourself in some long-winded battles simply because you can't catch up to the enemies. There are some AI wingmates, but they don't do much. The music sounds like they just found electronic drum kits and sound banks as if they were a type of holy grail of sound design. It teeters somewhere between good and bad, probably on acceptable. Also the game simply won't run on Win 10 or higher machines, you'll have to replace the mpeg.dll file in the game's directory. Not a world ending situation, but possibly not worth th…6 found this helpful
Project Freedom is a space combat title that reflects a particular era of mid-to-late 2000s game design, offering a blend of arcade-style action and light simulation wrapped in a straightforward science-fiction premise. Developed by City Interactive and published by CI Games, the game casts the player as a newly recruited pilot enlisted in the Project Freedom program, a corporate-backed initiative that sends mercenary pilots into dangerous missions across space and hostile planetary environments. The narrative framing is minimal and functional, serving mainly as a backdrop to justify a sequence of combat scenarios rather than a deeply developed story, but it succeeds in giving the campaign a sense of purpose and continuity. The bulk of Project Freedom’s experience is delivered through its campaign, which consists of a series of missions that gradually escalate in complexity and intensity. These missions range from classic space dogfights to escort operations, base assaults, and combat encounters near planetary surfaces and moons. While the objectives themselves are familiar to anyone who has played space shooters before, the variety in environments and mission pacing helps keep th…3 found this helpful
Came out the year after Freelancer, somewhat similar controls - just much worse. Game is on rails, mission here mission there etc. Not very interesting gameplay, narrative or story(only played 40 mins of it though). Tbh i'm wondering about refunding it, but it was only £1, not sure I cba, definitely cba to play any more of it. Freelancer has spoiled me I'm afraid..2 found this helpful
A pretty decent small game that doesn’t waste your time and throws you straight into the action. The upgrade system is fairly primitive, but by the end, you’ll have everything maxed out anyway. The game is quite short — a couple of dozen missions that take around four hours to finish — but at least it doesn’t overstay its welcome. I also found the friendly banter between the allies pretty funny. I played it back in 2009 when it first came out, but I could never beat the final mission. Finally, in 2026, I managed to close that chapter.2 found this helpful
This is a fun little time waster, once you figure out how to get it running. It's no Star Wars game, but good enough for a few hours of shooter fun.
Besides the horrible storyline this game was alot of fun.
