The years go by and another cycle has come to an end. Our civilisation has crumbled due to our greed and selfishness. Now we know that to avoid repeating the same mistakes, we need to stand united… and ours is the banner, under which humanity can thrive again. Our technology, philosophy and way of life are the ones that can finally bring happiness to the world… we just need to convince a few stubborn leaders...
Punk Wars is a combat and tactics-oriented strategy drawing inspiration from the classic turn-based 4X titles. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, in which the ruins of a once powerful megacity become the arena for a deadly fight between four newly emerged corporations, trying to assert dominance for both their unique technology and philosophy of life.

"Punk Wars: Prologue" is not a game, it's an advertisement for Punk Wars, which is a sort of dumbed down and badly balanced hybrid between a 4X strategy game and a turn based tactical game, which could work if done well, but it wasn't. But this is not that game, it's just an advertisement for it, and since advertisements for paid products like this chew up store space and choke off visibility that should be given to genuine amateur devs who struggle to find an audience for their games, this is almost impossible to recommend. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. This is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in your browser are. This is a game demo that's been dumped on Steam to advertise another Steam store page in the hopes of raking in some cash. Just because advertisements are free, doesn't mean they're worth your time. Even though this is "free", it failed to…2 found this helpful
Before I played Punk Wars: Prologue, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
1 found this helpful
I played only the free 'prologue' version and tried to enjoy the game, but I found the game play frustrated/annoying. The good: - very nice graphics - GUI controls looks nice, just maybe a bit too crowded - the developer supports Linux native, which I like The bad: - The map is with very big tiles and have pathways only one tile wide. The human units (without earned abilities) can move only 2 tiles in one turn. There can only be 1 unit on each tile, which means that unit is blocking a path. One unit directly behind it might jump over to the tile directly in front (2 steps). However another unit following behind can only move 1 tile up (as 2nd tile is occupied). So moving many units takes many turns with only 1 tile step or no steps at all. - The "sniper" unit can attack once each turn and shoot several tiles far, taking all the actions points. Which means it can't move and so will blocks others. Or you choose to move 1 or 2 tiles and don't shoot at all.. at the risk of being attacked. - The "man at arms" unit can also attack once each turn (only neighbour tiles), but has AP for 1 move left. However a single move does not allow to "jump over", so the "man at arms" …
Too oldish game style for my taste!
Extremely hard to build base up as constantly being attacked, I am glad I was able to play a demo, this would have been a waste of money for me. Games are supposed to be stress free and fun, this game causes stress and it is not fun, Graphics are good, story line is so-so.
