"Realms Road" is one of the many low effort projects made with an easy-to-use construction kit. It relies on canned assets and cringe high school fan fiction. This was a long time in coming, and inevitable... finally, RPG Maker asset flips, with complete, garbage high school anime club dropout fan-fiction writing, are integrating with disgusting AI slop. The "developer" of this garbage RPG Maker asset flip included a very basic story about "choosing heroes and having fights", which just means it's combat heavy, and bad combat... just basic Final Fantasy JRPG ripoff stuff with flipped assets. But on top of that, the high detail character art, instead of being done with an anime character generator like most RPG Maker asset flippers use, is AI slop. This is WORSE. Realms Road is a neat little turn based RPG that I enjoyed mainly because it combines party building with roguelike progression. I travel through different realms, recruit characters and fight corrupted enemies while trying to keep my party alive long enough to reach the end. I liked the feeling of having to make decisions with the knowledge that one bad run can send me all the way back. The combat is turn based and built around choosing the right champion and party members for each situation. I enjoyed experimenting with different team combinations because the characters can cover different roles and abilities. The semi automatic structure keeps battles moving while still giving me enough control to think about what my party should do. Character customization is another important part. I can improve equipment and abilities using resources collected from the maps, including gold, skill books and monster essences. I liked having several ways to strengthen the party because it gives the progression more meaning than simply increasing a level number.
