About Rebel Cops

✦ AI summary

Lead a ragtag squad of renegade cops in tactical stealth operations against a crime boss who's taken over your town, where every decision costs resources and a single bullet means death with no second chances. Balance survival with morality as you choose between ruthless efficiency and maintaining your reputation, exploring sandbox levels to scavenge supplies while managing an outgunned guerrilla war against overwhelming odds.

Rebel Cops is a spin-off game from This Is the Police, which exclusively focuses on the series' turned-based tactical operations. Lead a ragtag squad of cops in rebellion against their town's new criminal power to see how long you can hold out when you're constantly short on supplies and a single shot can cost a cop their life.

You’re not exactly the police, but you're the only ones on the side of justice

Viktor Zuev, a sadistic crime boss new on the scene, has quickly taken the town of Ripton by the throat. The community's leaders and local police have surrendered to his will. A master of intimidation and blackmail, Zuev has seized every major business in town, all of which he now controls as his own private fiefdom. An outlaw band of renegade cops refuses to bow, however. With little hope of success, they fight on — for justice, and the soul of their town.

Gunfights are thrilling, but stealth is key

You're fighting a guerilla war, out-manned and out-gunned. Use concealment and cover, approach the enemy quietly, and take them down before they can raise the alarm. You have at your disposal an arsenal of non-lethal weapons and equipment, as well as special tactical perks which you can unlock as you upgrade your rebels. True, sometimes violence seems inevitable, but when the time comes, don't hesitate: neither you nor the criminals have health bars. When someone is shot, they'll bleed out quickly, and getting a bullet in the head means instant death.

Explore, scavenge, and watch your back

Rebel Cops features not only compact operations where you need to fight for every inch of ground, but also large, open locations to explore — the sandbox levels. Search each room, crack open safes and vaults, try to get into inaccessible areas — and, above all, grab everything that looks useful. Stay together and proceed with caution, or accept the risks, fan-out, and try to explore every corner.

Take the high road, or the low road

Zuev's mercilessness is the key to his power. Can you defeat him without playing by his rules? Will you answer the needs of the desperate townspeople, even if it means putting the whole operation at risk? Will you spare civilian guards who are only doing their jobs? Some say that in war, you have to do whatever it takes to survive, but remember: reputation is more valuable than money. Bad blood on the streets can easily put your good name in the mud. Merchants will refuse to do business with you, and even some of your own people might turn their backs on you.

Look, its a great gameplay concept, I love turn based stealth ideas. especially stuff where you can have soldier synergy. but the game is nothing short of unfairly punishing. miss click? hope no one sees you! or you go back god knows how many turns! And i get that RNG is an important roll for these types of games. but its an absolute pain in the ass that you can have a high chance to make someone surrender. but they might just look at you, and yell for everyone in a 3 block radius. if you have a LOT of patience. go for it, its not awful. but i just CANT beat the damn thing. as always though, if you need a new variation of Xcom like games. have a go, its cheap and not too bad. just really hard.

Honesty this is an awesome game. Every day after school heading back home, eagerly I will always get on my Xbox and play this game. Like sometimes this is the only game I would play weeks on end without being bored. This was a tuff game but honesty a very fun one really got me thinking even during Covid. I bought this game on Steam again just to relive the memories one more time. Thank you for making this game, and thank you for making my childhood memories

I remember playing for two hours during the Estate mission, during my 5th or 6th run I final got into the mansion but thanks to my clumsiness I accidentally forgot to dispose of two bodies so all the guards knew where my team was. So usually they flooded the mansion and I was put in the defense by complete surprise, the firefight lasted around 14 minutes of me trying not to ♥♥♥♥ up. By the end 2 enemies remained and only 2 out of 4 of my cops survived, but unfortunately one of them ran out of ammo. Not seeing an alternative I took the gun and ammo of a wounded officer (he died the next turn). And by the next I gunned down one of them leaving only one left, However I accidentally placed her In a bad spot so the last ♥♥♥♥ got a good shot at her, instantly wounding her in the second shot. Then the next turn came, she gunned him down but she will die in the next 3 to 4 turns. And luckily for me. I FORGOT TO GIVE ANYONE THE MED KIT. After this unfortunate realization I became desperate, I had just spent 80 turns in this godforsaken mission, I tried googling for a solution, Then I read that fridges might have medkits (Idk where I read that from) So I tried to move the character to…

I want to like this game so badly, but sadly they just fumble when it comes to quality of life. Fantastic idea, fun gameplay, but why cant I tell where the enemy can see? Why are mission maps so massive when cops can take nearly 30 turns just to get to the other side of the map, why is there limited saves in a game where none of the rules make much sense compared to other games in the genre.

Rebel Cops has an interesting premise and a pretty nice visual style, but it never really clicked for me. The game looks good and the idea of a small group of cops fighting back against a corrupt regime is compelling. Unfortunately, the gameplay becomes repetitive fairly quickly. Your officers often feel underpowered, and the limited supplies and equipment can make missions feel more frustrating than challenging. It's not a terrible game, but I found myself losing interest long before the end. There are some good ideas here, but the execution didn't do enough to keep me engaged.
