About Relight The Dark
Relight The Dark is a chilling and emotionally charged short horror experience that tells a story about a girl living with her abusive mother. In this gripping narrative-driven game, you step into the shoes of a young girl who must confront the horrifying truth about her abusive mother while trying to find a way to escape.
The game's core mechanic revolves around exploration, where the player navigates mother's house, which they have trapped in for as long as they remember. As you explore the dimly lit rooms, you'll gradually uncover the disturbing history of your abusive mother and the dark secret that lurks within the shadows.
Relight The Dark is a remake of my first published game, My Light In The Dark.
TW: Mentions of murder, death, abuse.

Great Game. Really short, maybe no more than 35 min to 100%. I immediately knew this game when I saw the candle. A 3D recreation of my light in the dark was not expected, but I fully welcome it. Just wish there was more content for this game. I do not believe in refunding games if they are shorter than 2 hours, so it will sit in my library for decades to come.4 found this helpful
A great shot Horror Story with a really fantastic visual style, mixing RPGMAKER elements with Unity Horror Game elements. I don't necessarily think it's worth 2.99 ( as 100% run time is around 30 minutes), but it's still a great experience.2 found this helpful
Relight the Dark | Review in English and Italian

-------------------------------

English Review

Pros:
- A fine, though bland sound compartment - Graphics actually are kind of evocative (even though the house's living room really is abnormally HUGE...) - An extremely tense, very halloweenian atmosphere, well handled in its occasional moments of black humour - Jumpscares work (at least some of them...) - A perfectly straightforward gameplay - The core message is well handled to the very end - Some really nice details (like the main character's real name...)
Cons:
- Some dialogues feel kind of cheesy - Most of the achievements... same as above - The ending is a little rushed (especially the "plot-twist") - More generally speaking, the whole thing could have used some more time to properly develop (I get how two-dimensional it all is, but still...) - Keyboard controls kind of get in the way, especially in the final chase
Extras (unaffecting my overall opinion):
- How can we re—light, the daaaaaaark... 😁😁😁 - I do know there's a previous, free RPG Maker version of this game as well, named [url=https://store.st…1 found this helpful
Relight The Dark was a short and sweet little horror game, with a nice story and great nostalgic visuals. It had same kinda of atmosphere, when someone is telling you a horror story. The game itself isn't that long, but will be a great addition to your spooktober playlist. You should definitely give it a try!1 found this helpful
Great game.
I love the theme of it all. How everything is dark and gloomy. Nothing feels safe or like home. You live in an abusive household thats exactly how it would feel. Nothing feels like it would bring you joy except for a few key things. Thats where this game really pushes an amazing feeling through the art. Where you stumble across key items and they are full of color because you as the character either see a small amount of joy in them, or you find hope in it for the future. Without spoiling too much ill use the apple in the first minute as an example. To you it's more than just an apple. It's a sign of life living there and curiosity. When forced in these situations boredom can take place and using a child like imagination like our character does helps them cope. Not only seeing the apple as a fetch item for our mother, but as a home for the worm that was in it and how the worm escaped the hole in the apple. But on a deeper note i think it describes how the apple may have been a dark hole of a home, but it was also nutrients that fed the worm to grown and become stronger than it once was. The game really goes into deep abuse mindset and coping, and uses an inte…1 found this helpful
Super short game with a good aesthetic. The premise is interesting and could be expanded on to make the game longer, especially with the twist ending. Bought it for $1.19 on discount, so I don't feel like I wasted money on it.
