Misc Games, the creators of the highly-popular commercial fishing franchises Fishing: North Atlantic and Fishing: Barents Sea, proudly present their brand-new title: Ships At Sea. This exciting release introduces multiplayer co-op and competitive modes, delivering the dynamic gameplay experience fans have been eagerly awaiting.Ships At Sea, the next generation of ship simulation, introduces service and cargo vessels for the first time. Build your career in service, cargo, or commercial fishing as you venture into the untamable Norwegian Sea. Join a company with your friends to collaborate on tasks and missions, share resources, or run your own company in the same session to compete against others in a shared multiplayer world.

In partnership with Nvidia, we are proud to introduce the cutting-edge WaveWorks water shader, which delivers a cinematic-quality ocean simulation. Complementing this, we've implemented a fully overhauled, physically based buoyancy system to ensure vessels of all sizes behave realistically on the water. To deepen player immersion, the dynamic weather system is built around two core components that work in harmony to bring the world to life. From rain and fog to lightning and storms, these elements create a vivid, ever-changing environment where no two journeys feel the same, adding realism and unpredictability to every maritime journey.
Above all, Ships At Sea takes a bold step forward by allowing players to explore authentically recreated harbors in Lofoten, Norway. Immerse yourself in the vibrant port life—visit shops to purchase tools and equipment, or stop by the shipyard to upgrade, maintain, and repair your vessels.

Building on the success of our previous games, Ships At Sea offers an atmospheric and highly realistic environment featuring accurate maps, licensed ships and equipment. With stunning graphics, the game delivers striking, immersive visuals, providing the ultimate ship simulation experience. Embark on this journey and claim your place as a master of the seas!To ensure a fully engaging maritime experience, Ships At Sea incorporates advanced technologies to enhance gameplay quality. ✦ AI summary

Ships At Sea is an early access game with solid core mechanics that players appreciate for its realistic simulation of weather and sea currents alongside impressive immersion details like cargo management, though it remains a work in progress with occasional bugs that some feel makes it worth waiting for further development before diving in. Most players express optimism about the direction of updates and see potential in the game's unique approach to maritime simulation, though opinions are divided on whether it's ready for extended play now or better experienced after more polish.

Cant recommend this ship sim enough. Its very relaxing to cruise from port to port, delivering cargo, people, or the fish I've just caught. Its still in early access but this is the best team of developers I've seen on a game. They have such a passion and give progress updates all the time. In the year I've been playing there has been so much time put into the map and updates with new boats, fish species, and so on its worth it in my opinion. Looking foreword to many more hours spent on the open seas!

So this is an complete re-write of my original review, which was negative. I have now moved this to a positive review, with issues. Gameplay: Starts off extremely slow. A major issue with most of the reviews are due to journey times. I'm not going to lie, its pretty rough to begin with. You have 3 main ways to play the game. Cargo, Fishing, or Service. You'll start in a rowboat, with enough money to purchase a motorised boat. Do this immediately. I spent the first hour in the row boat, which is painful. I think the tutorial needs to steer you towards a career path right from the start in my honest opinion. I've now tried cargo, and fishing(Longline, Jig, and Net) and fishing is by far the most involved career path so far. There's finding the fish, baiting and prepping, as well as reeling in and gutting the fish themselves. On top of these career paths theres passenger running, fish farming and whale spotting. There maybe more but i'm yet to attempt them. Journey times: This did get easier after I moved into tier 2 and started fishing with a fully upgraded engine. Up to that point.. I did my best to keep cargo runs as close as possible. Moving just 4 NM, was an hour of getting up …

I really like this game. I’ve been following it since practically the start of its development, and I decided to hold onto it to give it a chance. I don't regret it at all now. I’ve seen how far it has come, both visually and in the behavior of the water and the ships, as well as the activities available. Also the devs still have plenty of plans for the future. For me, it’s the kind of game I regularly come back to when I want a quiet moment to unwind with some music. It relaxes me, and that’s ultimately what I look for in a game like this. I’m eager to see how it continues to evolve.
