Silicon Zeroes

You see some reviewers claim that real-world knowledge is preventing them from enjoying the game, that the game's rules are illogical and unintuitive. You don't really know what they are talking about, because they don't give examples. So I'll fill that gap. You have 3 chips: a slow combinatorial chip C1 (whose output never changes after stabilizing, but that shouldn't really matter), a slow sequential chip S1 and a fast sequential chip S2. You combine them to build a bigger chip moving the data in one direction with no backfeeding: C1 -> S2 -> S1 What do you think is going to happen if you remove S2 and just connect it like so: C1 -> S1 Is the whole thing going to be faster or slower? That's right. It's going to be... slower. If you go step by step you'll see S1 just spin its wheels, doing nothing for half the clock cycle. What. The. ♥♥♥♥. Can I learn these quirks, understand them and work with them? Yes. Do I want to? No.

it's decent, there's quite a few puzzles but they sometimes feel too similar to one another and the solutions are quite restricting, a lot of the time it felt like only one method was viable with the tools you had and the game devolves in figuring out what that method is.. the solution graphs show very little variance in size/speed between players compared to other zachlike games, like everyone had the same solution.. The game is about building a CPU so don't expect anything besides that, but there's a few fundamentals to learn here I think. Story is okay, the soundtrack is good, the difficulty is okay it starts easy but can get really hard, I think this is worth your time if you like these kind of games.

fairly decent game with plenty of problem solving. I have enjoyed trying to find my way through puzzles and the steam guides are very helpful as they spoiler to not give away answers straight away. story was very nice touch as well

Great game for learning logic and programming principles. Lots of nice challenges.

Great but brutally difficult puzzle game. All the fun of RTL design with an interface that's somehow even worse than verilog.

Computers and hardware have always been my thing. In Silicon Zeroes you get to design computers from elementary blocks. Game has series of puzzles. First ones are simple, but they get gradually harder. There is story and characters to follow. Building elements here are quite realistic. Building functional blocks from them feels deeply satisfying. This is one of those games, that has teaching value too. Recommended to anyone who wishes to explore, how computers work.
