About Solargene
By the mid-21st century, humanity faced critical resource shortages on Earth. The leading spacefaring nations turned their gaze to the cosmos. You'll take the helm of a private space corporation and begin the industrial exploitation of the solar system.
Vastness of the Solar System
Discover the expansive reaches of our solar system—from scorching Mercury to the icy Kuiper Belt. Explore mysterious planetary landscapes: Venus' endless deserts, Martian canyons, Io's volcanoes, and Europa's frozen crust. Build dozens of colonies, space stations, and spacecraft capable of housing hundreds of colonists.Colonies
Establish and develop off-world colonies with diverse specializations: spaceports, mining outposts, agricultural complexes, tourist resorts, scientific bases, and majestic orbital stations. Use a simple yet powerful construction system to realize your boldest architectural visions. Extract minerals and create production chains, progressing from basic resources to complex high-tech products. Hold colony elections to consider residents' opinions and enact laws reflecting the dominant ideology.Personnel Management
Every astronaut is a unique individual with distinct personalities, worldviews, professional skills, and experience. As their expertise grows, so do their demands for proper compensation and comfortable living conditions. Like all humans, colonists require basic needs: food, sleep, rest, and hygiene. Special attention must be paid to healthcare—prompt treatment and care for the injured and sick will ensure their survival and well-being.Logistics
You'll have access to dozens of unique in-game resources, with mineral deposits unevenly scattered across planets. Create and optimize a logistics network using efficient shuttle systems to transport cargo and personnel between colonies and spaceports. Negotiate contracts and trade with all in-game factions.Extreme Conditions
Space is an inhospitable environment for humans: temperatures fluctuate dramatically based on time of day, season, planetary location, atmospheric presence, and distance from the Sun. Radiation levels vary across celestial bodies and intensify during solar flares. Meteor showers pose serious threats to colonies and orbital stations. On planets with active atmospheres, periodic storms and calms disrupt logistics and affect power generation.Research & Technology
The path won't be easy, but science and technology will help overcome all obstacles. Manufacture new high-tech resources to create increasingly complex equipment and superior structures. Utilize powerful engines and wireless power transmission to colonize the solar system's most remote corners. Research space agriculture and cuisine for varied diets and astronaut comfort, and develop space tourism for additional income. And that's not all—robots, clones, force fields, and much more await! The Solar System Awaits You in Solargene! What Steam players say

"Discover the expansive reaches of our solar system—from scorching Mercury to the icy Kuiper Belt." quote from store page I played 2.7 hours and discovered the expansive reaches of... building a toilet. In 2.7 hours I managed to build three rooms, a corridor, and a toilet. This "game" is a room based base builder. You place specialised rooms on cubic grid and put pawns in it. Problem is, game forces you to summon junk props out of thin air in every (!!!) room. To summon items you must have about five different raw resources for every single object — even a bench or a waste bin. To get these resources you must order them and wait for delivery. For some reason you cannot place a blueprint and then fill it with resources like in other base builders. No — you must order delivery before you build. Then you [strike]build [/strike] summon, and SUDDENLY you need another resources to summon another prop. Then you wait a couple of minutes for delivery, and yay — you have a summoned prop. Congratulations, now you must repeat this over and over. All while fighting with UI, camera and weird props. What takes seconds in other games takes minutes here. To make things worse, you have no real …10 found this helpful
This needs more time to cook, the UI is awful and the tutorials are really terrible due to the UI. Theres a good game in here I think but the UI really holds it back5 found this helpful
Like Space? Like Systems? Can Deal with an almost mandatory but poorly thought out tutorial? Want to Delve into the brain of a NASA Architect? Want to Play a Game where even Microsoft Copilot Fails to understand the mechanics properly? If the answer to ALL of these questions is yes, you will LOVE Solargene. I nearly Refunded this game, but it was because I was out of sorts and wasn't in the headspace to do complex stuff...once I calmed down I decided to cancel the refund and I haven't regret it. Admittedly the demo only lets you play through the (3) tutorials, but it will help you get a feel for what's involved, even if it's badly designed and poorly thought out, it is perhaps the worst part of this game, and the demo because it's limited to that doesn't do the game itself justice.5 found this helpful

5/5 Special notes to music <3 Long time with updates, but it is worth it! Espcially with some of the workshop content to add additional places to go to. They added the extra hard difficulity to not leet you cheese with shuttle shipments! I remember making that suggestion a long time ago. Hard sci-fi, casual, amazing.1 found this helpful
The interface is the game's biggest obstacle; it is clunky, inconsistent, and actively gets in the way of playing. Menus are unintuitive, font choices and layout make important information hard to read, and basic actions frequently require more clicks or hunting than they should. The tutorial is passive and poorly signposted; it hides critical information in tabs and prompts that do not correspond to what is actually on-screen, leaving you to figure things out by accident rather than learn them intentionally. That would be forgivable if the controls were solid, but the nighttime camera and mouse movement feel buggy and awkward. Camera glitches and inconsistent movement repeatedly interrupt exploration. There are strong systems under the surface and satisfying building and resource mechanics when they work, but the overall experience is weighed down by quality-of-life issues: clumsy inventory management, finicky mouse controls, opaque AI, and excessive micromanagement for staff that can end disastrously if you miss something. These rough edges make the game frustrating instead of immersive, which is especially disappointing because the world and core ideas are clearly well crafted…
