What are these controls? You aim with the RIGHT analog stick and jump is mapped to a button I also have to press with the RIGHT thump. (no remapping btw.) Also aiming with the analog stick is just moving the mouse cursor. No, that not how aiming with the analog stick should work! And double no, I won't play with mouse and keyboard for "better experience". This game is a total waste of effort. Everything looks quite polished, and then the laziest controller support you can imagine. Not having controller support would actually improve the game...

Incredible art direction, fun gameplay, but a lot of bugs and some questionable design choices.

Squeaky Squad is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This platformer offers quite a bit less than most platformers on Steam (even free ones), as the developer couldn't work out how to turn off the ugly screen filter or do colour graphics (benefit of the doubt there, because otherwise they made this look bad on purpose, and that would be malice). Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. The story involves exploring different areas of the ship (e.g., flooded pipelines, factories, aerial decks) in any order to combat the "Squeakers" and their leaders, the "Squeaky Squad."
