Evoland 2 feels like what the first title wishes it was. It's much bigger, more ambitious, and more polished than the first game; it constantly switches between art styles and gameplay modes, and the story's pretty fun, centered around time travel through different gaming periods; it still has a ton of references to gaming culture; the characters have more personality and are more fleshed out. It generally feels more like a complete game. The drawbacks are its pacing; it feels a bit all over the place; some sections feel longer than they should've been; the combat starts to feel repetitive/samey over the course of 20 hours or so; a few puzzles are convoluted; the story, while having more to say, can feel murky. The game occasionally feels like a collection of ideas rather than one cohesive experience. In general, Evoland 2 remains enjoyable; however, it would have been even more entertaining if it had prioritized the development of some of its more innovative concepts, rather than hopping from one to the other. I'd say it's worth picking up during a sale, as it's a decently fun, retro love letter to the classics.

Evoland 2 is filled to the brim with references to many-many old RPGs If you can understand those references than it is a deeply nostalgic and bittersweet trip down a memory line. If you cant than it is a very mediocre old-school RPG Ether 7/10 or 4/10

Evoland 2 is super fun and a genuinely very enjoyable game. Was a breath of fresh air and I couldn't see the time pass! If you're like me and had a mixed opinion about the first game, don't hesitate and play this one, it's so much better!

I got bored pretty quickly here. I applaud the game for trying to mash together so many genres and ideas but I don't think it succeeds at that goal.

Better than the original in every way. The gameplay constantly evolves as you progress through different eras and genres, keeping things fresh and surprising. It's a love letter to gaming history with real heart. If you enjoyed the first one, this is a big step up.
