I love this game, its just how I remember it. I can kinda understand why some people dislike it though. The story is slow at first, but it gets engaging towards the halfway mark. There are a few random parts that are awkward or seem out of place, but it doesn't affect the overall story at all. The 2 sides is also a nice touch, but if you don't want to replay for the second side, i'd recommend choosing Jude's side if you want a "better story" Its also easy to understand and the characters are great and mostly memorable. The soundtrack is amazing, there isnt a single song that I disliked in this game, and the artstyle is also probably one of my top favorites in the series. The combat is by far one of my most favorite ones out of the tales games I've played. Its extremely fun and the boss battles can be challenging at times. The combos, the visuals on the battle field, and the mechanic as a whole is amazing. The difficulties are a bit weird, but it'd be what you'd expect. The graphics arent even that bad. My game was running extremely smoothly. There are definitely those times where the characters look a little off, but it's nothing serious. However, there was a bug I constantly r…
It's a good game, but it's impossible to recommend when Namco has refused to enable the Remote Multiplayer feature in every game after Arise. Symphonia, Zestiria, the original Berseria and the Vesperia remaster all have online multiplayer. Graces, Xillia, and the upcoming Eternia remaster do not.
I'm half way through Jude's campaign and I really am not enjoying it right now. My major issue is that there really isn't anything other to do than to just get into fights. Most of the side quests just boil down to get into a fight or get an item and the only way you can get that item is to get into a fight. Up until this point there aren't really any dungeons, you're just walking around in the wilderness and puzzles are nearly nonexitent. Worst of all the side quests and the hidden items are rarely worth going out of the way for, most of the time you more or less just get stuff that you would've just won from a fight anyways. Don't get me wrong, the combat is amazing, it's better than it is in Symphonia, but I just wish this game had another draw to it. I'll still probably beat the Jude's story but I really wish this game just had more to it.
the very game that got me started on JRPGs (other than pokemon like 25 years ago) and despite its obvious flaws i will always consider it my fave game of all time, especially because jude is such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ relatable character, like its literally like i was watching a different me back in the day the remaster fixed every issue i had wit the game on ps3
This game was one of my first entries into the tales of series back on the ps3. Many years later and now playing it remastered on steam is a treat. The game still stands the test of time for enjoyment levels. The dual protagonist setup is one of my favorite parts of this game, which allows for unique story interactions to been seen from two different perspectives. Great recommendation for any JRPG fan or anyone who enjoys the tales of series.
My reasoning behind giving the game a negative review is slightly different. Apparently this game is a continuom with the next sequel Xillia 2. However, the company only made/released the remaster for Xillia 1. Meaning, unless you own a PS, or you like emulating games, you will never be able to play the directly continuing story of Xillia 2. Also, Xillia 2 has no plans for remastered. So, for me that didnt even know about this, and got to find out mid game play, I have no reason to continue to play Xillia 1. It isnt a scam, but to me it does feel like a scam.
