The Death of Erin Myers is the FIRST installment in Viperante's Short Story Series, an anthology of FIVE standalone and self-contained point-and-click adventure games.
Erin Myers was a cop. Now she's dead. But how did she die? And why did she die? Find out, as you step back in time, and play through some of the most important moments of her life. Uncover her fears, her desires, and her darkest secrets. In the end, you can't save her. But maybe, just maybe, you can understand her.
Short stories provide writers with a great way to explore specific ideas, themes, situations, and incidents, without the overhead of large plot structures or character arcs. And they allow readers to get right to the heart of the matter in question. Get up and close and personal with it. Really feel it.
We wanted to make games that captured that short story essence. We wanted to makes games that could easily be played in one sitting. But we wanted to make games that still felt like full games, and didn't feel incomplete. And we didn't want to make games in an on-going episodic series where you have to wait for the next release before you can continue the story and find out what happens next.
So, we created the Short Story Series, an anthology of five 1 to 2 hour long 1st person point-and-click adventure games.
Each game in the series is a unique standalone experience with a self-contained story, exploring a specific idea, character, or situation.
However, even though each game is standalone, all the games in the series share some common themes and mechanics. They will all explore certain dark, sometimes macabre, ideas. And they will all contain good old classic point and click adventure game puzzle solving.

Erin Myers was a cop. Now she's dead. But how did she die? And why did she die? Find out, as you step back in time, and play through some of the most important moments of her life. Very short game, wish it was longer but I did enjoy playing it, its worth a shot and reasonable price.
Game has my full name in it so had to try. Pretty cute but they killed off the best character
The Death of Erin Myers was kind of hard for someone with bad puzzle solving skills but not terribly so! I enjoyed it! 8/10
It's really difficult to pull off a game about a character who is as profoundly hard to like as the adult Erin; she's paranoid, she'll steal from crime scenes and coworkers or mildly poison people to get what she needs. Also, she's just kind of uncharitable and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in her narration. Coupled with the sometimes pixel-hunty puzzles and Erin's nitpicky requirements, I spent a not insignificant part of this going "GOD, ERIN, IT'S A PENCIL, JUST MAKE IT WORK". I still feel like the game mostly pulls it off - the "unlikable protagonist" part, I mean. It helps that we start with a (somewhat heavy-handed) memory of her childhood, which gives context to the whole miserable rest of her; get this girl off the force and into some therapy. I think she'd be terrifying on SSRIs, but probably she'd also be happier. Gameplay-wise - this is a short one, and the puzzles aren't super complicated except when they feel a bit too specific/pixel hunt-y, but I had a good time. Everything, including the bleak visuals, feels soaked through with Erin's perspective, which helps bring it together for me. The price feels reasonable for what you get.
