The Lord of the Rings: Adventure Card Game - Definitive Edition

A solid card battler driven by constant tactical choices: attack, defend, use special powers, play cards from hand, or charge the event meter to trigger positive effects. The depth means a slower start, though - newcomers need to take their time to grasp the mechanics before diving right in, but the tutorial does its job pretty well. The game leaves a great lasting impression, and the more I play it, the more it grows on me.

It says I have 38 hours played although I have no idea why. I have perhaps,, at best, an hour. The tutorial was completely worthless and I didn't have a clue what was going on. I "won" my first tutorial mission although it was by luck and I had no clue what was going on. In the second tutorial I lost without even knowing what I was doing. Was VERY NOT impressed with the tutorial. It was worthless. I have no interest in spending hours trying to figure out how to play the same, so I'm going to just uninstall and give it a thumbs down.

A fun deck building game BUT I think this has been surpassed by other games like Monster Train/Hearthstone. While the core gameplay is fun, there are several minor issues. The actual way to earn cards etc feels a little dated and slow. The User Interface in the deckbuilder could be better for desktop as the cards are too small in certain screens and you can't view the cards properly. Development of this has also stopped and the content feels a little sparse as a result. The campaign feels a bit too easy that you don't really need to deckbuild until the 3rd campaign. As a result I can't really recommend this purchase simply because there are better options out there, not necessarily that it's a bad game at all.

This is such a fantastic game! I really fell in love with this game as soon as I started playing. Now, I will preface that I am a huge LotR fan, yet I think that this game easily stands on its own. I believe it is based off of an actual card game, but I haven't had the opportunity to see if they are similar. My biggest gripe with this game comes down to the fact that the developers have abandoned it. It never really sold well so they eased development on it, which is fine, yet there are achievements in this game that are not possible to get in the current state and some of them that are technically possible, would require like 800-1000 hours alone (I am not being hyperbolic either, it's legit that long). While some people may have those achievements, I believe they used hacked software to acquire them. Anyways, this game is a total banger and I highly recommend it, especially if you can pick it up on sale or if you have a friend to play it with, the coop is awesome!
