The Magnificent Trufflepigs is a first-person, metal-detecting narrative game designed to be played in a single evening. You play as Adam, a sharp-witted but compassionate man returning to his childhood village of Stanning. There he'll help a woman named Beth on her mission to unearth a local treasure. As cracks begin to appear in Beth’s fairy tale plan for everything, you’ll delve into her history and discover all may not be as it seems. And you’ll have to choose how Adam responds to Beth as she faces her demons.
Gameplay combines laid-back metal detecting and exploration with a strong interpersonal narrative, all set in a beautiful English countryside. The Magnificent Trufflepigs is a game about trying to find something, and the tone it sets is like a typical English summer: mostly pleasant, but with stormy moments that threaten to ruin everything.

Story:
It’s summer in the idyllic northern English village of Stanning. Beth is a successful twenty-something who’s poised to become the CEO of the biggest company in the valley, on the cusp of settling down, maybe having a couple kids. Life seems so straight-forward, but something’s missing…
Many years ago, Beth found an earring while metal detecting on a local farm. It brought her brief fame (and a modest sum of cash for a pre-teen), but—most importantly—it made her feel special. But she never found the earring’s match.
Now, the old farm is only a week away from being demolished so an energy company can turn it into a solar farm. Beth decides this is her last chance to rekindle that childhood sense of adventure. There’s too much ground to cover by herself, so (despite warnings from her friends) she’s hatched a plan to invite Adam back into her life. Beth’s search for the long-lost earring will unearth much more than she's bargained for.

The Magnificent Trufflepigs is a narrative walking game about nostalgia and the healing power of wide open spaces. Compared to Firewatch when it released in 2021, I found The Magnificent Trufflepigs to be something similar, yet different: somehow an interesting take on the walking sim and a game of a very distinct time. One of the most boring games I have ever played. There isn't really a story, just a girl that keeps yapping about her disfunctional relationship. after the first day I turned the volume down to 0 and started watching youtube instead of actually paying attention because I was so uninterested.1 found this helpful
It's a nice little story and adventure with, yes, very simple mechanics. Finish-able in about 3 hours, I don't regret playing it, which I think is a better measure of a game for value at times. If you like relaxing little stories and aren't expecting the world, you'll like it. The scenery in the game is a real bonus, it's lovely, and the voices are nice.
This is more of a chill experience than a true game, but relaxing and has a decent story with excellent narration. It's the right length and has enough variation and story around each object to make things interesting.
Game was fun and Story was okay. 7/10. Wish you could skip dialog or at least do anything, while dialog. Second Run for the last achievements was very annoying to go through all that again, with no option to skip
The gameplay part of this game is great, but the story was not. I spent the entire time getting annoyed by the story progressing when I just wanted to use the metal detector. I honestly would have preferred a simple metal detector game instead. It's also way too short.
