I would say out of all three of this series this one is the best one. Graphically today it is poor but good storyline.4 found this helpful
UFO: Aftershock (Aftershock) is the second game in a "UFO Trilogy" by Alter Interactive. Aftershock continues one of the story paths available to the player from the first game, Aftermath. First and foremost, Aftershock is a budget game from the early 2000s and it definitely shows today. I played this game way too much as a kid with Aftermath one of my favourite childhood games so when Aftershock came along I was super excited. Aftershock forewent the gritty and realistic style visuals of Aftermath, embracing a nearly cartoon visual style that at first can be jarring but it does grow on you. The game follows a campaign of trying to re-take a crippled Earth, first from monsters and the remnants of the aliens who attacked so many years but from other humans who are extremists and referred affectionately as "Cultists". There are three other human factions, 'normal' humans who hate any one else including their own whom they outcast; these include cyborgs which as the name suggest are a group of male outcasts who replace organic parts of their bodies with cybernetics and lastly, psionics who are female outcasts who have an affinity for psionic abilities awaken by the alien exper…2 found this helpful

UFO: Aftershock is a layered hybrid strategy game developed by ALTAR Interactive and published by Fulqrum Publishing that blends global-scale management with real-time tactical combat in a grim, post-apocalyptic science fiction setting. As the second entry in the After series, it builds upon the foundations of its predecessor while shifting the conflict back toward a devastated Earth. Humanity, having previously fled the planet, now struggles to reclaim it from alien forces, mutated lifeforms, and fractured remnants of civilization. This premise frames the experience as both a desperate survival effort and a calculated military campaign, placing players in command of a fragile resistance tasked with restoring order in a hostile world. The game operates across two interconnected layers: a strategic world map and individual tactical missions. On the strategic level, players manage bases, research technologies, manufacture equipment, recruit personnel, and allocate scarce resources. Territory control is critical, as regions generate resources that fuel further expansion and technological advancement. The research tree is extensive, offering upgrades in weaponry, armor, alien technolo…
Very unusual and interesting story for a turn based shooter and great replayability.
