About Underwater Wars
Underwater Wars is a tactical turn-based strategy whose action takes place in the depths of the ocean.
2085. The war between the "Commonwealth" and the "Alliance" has lasted for more than 25 years. It began long before the cataclysm that led to the flooding of the entire planet. Until now, it is not known exactly what caused the cataclysm, but the warring organizations accuse each other of testing some kind of climatic weapon that put humanity on the brink of extinction. You have to go to the forefront and lead the main forces of the "Commonwealth". The ocean is a poorly studied, hostile and very dangerous place where, in addition to the "Alliance" submarines, you can meet embittered pirates, terrible underwater predators, mystical anomalies and much more that is hidden somewhere in the depths. You will face complex strategic tasks, for the solution of which you will have to competently use the available resources. Explore coral reefs, deep trenches, flooded cities and anomalous zones. Develop your technology to gain an advantage on the battlefield. Find out who is behind all the troubles of mankind and end the long war.
Features:
⚫ At your disposal are combat submarines of various classes and purposes.
⚫ A variety of modules and improvements.
⚫ 4 factions with their characteristics and unique abilities.
⚫ 3 modes for single player.
⚫ Submarine builder, where you can create your units and then use them in battle.

TLDR: Despite its uncommon setting, this tactical game is dogged by uninspired design. The poor voice over, boring missions and absence of narrative cripple it in a competitive and already crowded genre. I’ve always had a soft spot for seafaring type games, be they on the surface (Pirates, Sunless Sea) or beneath it (Terror from the deep), so I originally had high hopes for Underwater Wars. Unfortunately I have never reviewed a game where I could only find one good point to highlight... + Turn-based submarine combat, and the underwater setting - Sharks attack your submarines (seriously?!). This is just dumb - Poor, expressionless voice over made me mute the audio - No backstory, just disjointed mission briefings - Boring AI turns that you cannot speed up or skip, leading to - Long, monotonous battles - Superficial tactics; battles have no depth (pardon the pun) - Yes it’s in EA but the finishes, UI, design choices feel like a school project than a retail game - Although you help defend bases, you can’t build them Currently there are just 2 missions and after completing those, I simply cannot see myself playing any more than the 1 hour I invested in it. I simply cannot recomme…17 found this helpful
Very basic at this stage. Not worth the price tag. If you're looking for an X-Com underwater experience... look somewhere else.6 found this helpful
I would recommend if the game is completed!
Awesome game, very relaxing and nostalgic if you like xcom terror from the deep. Easy to learn, still in early access so they'll add more skirmish maps soon. I love skirmish mode. Take your time and enjoy some underwater combat.
