Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered

Big fan of Utawarerumono and this game is absolute garbage, story is terrible and worthless and the ending is so atrocious. Hard to believe this is in the same series as the previous games

It's ugly beyond repair...It saddened me to have to say that nowadays Chinese Gacha Games are 200% better than JRPG...Because I hate Gacha... At least the story is okay and I love the characters, played the game on switch 2, ugliness is more bearable ... But, please , Japan stop be stuck in 2005!

Going to be frank, I disagree with a good number of negative reviews. Note: I was happy to see that Aquaplus made an RPG out of these games. I'm not sore about it not being a VN. This game gave me much of what I wanted from a follow-up to Monochrome Mobius. It's by no means perfect, but a notable improvement. Even some changes I was cautious of at first became easy to accept later. I'll highlight some things: [list] [*] Stun mechanic in the battle system is more clearly explained. You know when an enemy or you yourself are going to get stunned and can plan for it. Enemy status in general is much better presented. [*] Area leaders and adjustments to Quick Kills make traversing the overworld much less tedious. I was concerned that this would be over-emphasized at first, but it actually made for a much easier time getting around. Woptors also become Burnout Revenge-style traffic checkers once you beat an area leader, which was amusing. [*] New transformations offer additional options with overzeal. Haven't played around strategically with them to go into further detail. Hard mode makes it so that you don't get a stat boost when transformed, so I experimented only so much. [*] You can …

Continues on from the giant cliffhanger left by the previous game. Story doesn't hit quite as hard as the Mask games' resolution but still enjoyable and did a great job of fleshing out the cast. Definitely worth playing if you're a fan of the series. Gameplay is much the same as the previous game, although some of the more frustrating elements of progression and 100%ing achievements have been pulled back which is nice.

It's a neat jrpg. It provides a conclusion to the previous game Monochrome Mobius. Concluding the story of Shunnya and Oshtor. The team complete their coming of age trials, and had to face the existence of the series' continuity. The english text has jank all over the place but is largely serviceable, with the big exception of messing up Mikazuchi's last words. Munechika's and Mikazuchi's arcs are lovely. Oshtor's story is sad, Shunnya's bittersweet.

[h1]The Final Verse of Utawarerumono[/h1] When they mentioned that this will be the last game of the franchise, it feels bittersweet to journey through my last goodbyes with an impressive world and lore that continue to amaze me with a level of detail that rivals most JRPGs. This is a direct-sequel to Monocrhome Mobius that has a drastic change in the overall game design. At first I was questioning some of these decisions but after a few hours playing, you can find the intention of these changes that enhances the overall player experience. The game almost feels entirely different from Monochrome Mobius and it definitely benefits when exploring an expanded world that is so much more bigger. I love what they did with Area Rulers and the quick-kill mechanic. I love the reworked turn-based combat system that gives more powerful options in the early-game that makes the progression feel so much more smooth and satisfying. And I really really love the story. The character developments of Oshor, Mikazuchi, Munechika, and Shunya reaches their peaks through this game.
