About Utopia

What is Utopia?

  • City builder simulator
  • Procedurally generated Islands
  • Pleasant and relaxing environment
  • More than 30 game buildings in collection
  • Roads, biomes, city and production centres
  • Islanders who live in your cities
  • Complete missions and achieve new buildings for future games!
  • World wonder challenge levels
  • Free play mode
  • Each round is unique and everything that happens depends on the player's actions

What are the game rules?

  • The gameplay is quite intuitive. You start on an empty island, with a standard set of construction blueprints on hand that you can place. Placing buildings awards points. The number of points you get depends on what surrounds the building, when you place it. Collect points to improve your island and unlock new buildings.
  • Once your island is developed enough, you can advance to the next island. If you run out of buildings, the game ends.

https://youtu.be/K51NuqKtD-U A city building card game, this game is similar to ISLANDERS, however it does have a different strategy behind it focusing more on building up small cities and farms then placing individual building in (or clusters of buildings) in the area. There are levels and biomes which mean you have to do a little planning while building your first and 2nd cities around the map. Your cities will also grow as you place more and more buildings around it, as you have to think about what buildings are going where to continue to build your mega cities. I will be honest both games are great and fill a different niche for a card building city game. I have attached some gameplay above just so you can get a sense of what is good and different about the game

Many many years ago there was a console called Intellivision. And on this console there was a game and that game was called "Utopia" This is not that game, but it did feel like a spiritual successor. I grabbed this one for nostalgia and the name as it is only $5.00 normal price and it turned out to be a nice game. Easy to play, relaxing and enjoyable.

Utopia is a puzzle city builder that is extremely similar to the game Islanders that requires you to meet a certain score threshold to unlock new buildings to increase your score within each stages missions. Each building can either increase the score if placed alongside eligible buildings or decrease the score if they are not. In Utopia's case the islands come in menu missions with a final mission at each stage that requires you to complete specific objectives to unlock a unique building and complete the level. Islanders is the better game and has a better structure but Utopia is a cheaper alternative and outside of each stages final mission objectives wasting your time if you end up building a required structure before it appears in the objective list, Utopia can be a stress free experience. I personally enjoyed the game playing for 9hours but its building unlock structure was frustrating and as mentioned beforehand actually caused issues in completing each stages final mission. Due to the final stages objectives being mandatory unlike the basic missions, if you fail to complete the objective you'll have to restart and in some objective cases it will appear once you've already…

I got a new laptop and am so upset that I have lost ALL MY PROGRESS!!! You'd think it would save the data onto my Steam account but that is not the case. I put a lot of time into this casual game that I absolutely loved and found so helpful when trying to destress. Looks like I'll have to find a new destress game because just thinking about all the progress I lost is riling me up.

Had a lot of fun with this game and will keep playing it in the future. If you liked Islanders this one is also for you.
