About The Night of the Rabbit

✦ AI summary

Follow young Jerry down a rabbit hole to the magical realm of Mousewood, where you explore a richly detailed world of talking animals while uncovering a sinister mystery that forces you to mature far beyond your years. This story-driven adventure shifts from whimsical charm to dark drama across 20 hours of gameplay, challenging you to save Mousewood's residents from a mysterious force offering them a devil's bargain.

Lose yourself in a tale of magic and wonder, where anything is possible and where nothing is quite as it seems: join young Jerry and follow a peculiar white rabbit to the wondrous realm of Mousewood, a land where critters can speak and where mystery abounds.

It is here that Jerry’s dream of being a magician comes true, though a haunting, sinister force casts a long shadow over the forest. Someone offers the residents of Mousewood a deal of their lifetime - tickets to the greatest magic show that the world has ever seen. But the price is steep, as they'll have to stake their most precious possessions and also their lives.

As the shadows grow deeper, the residents of Mousewood have only Jerry to turn to. On an adventure full of laughter and tears, joy and fear, the young boy will face the ultimate trial, leaving behind the world he once knew, and his childhood, too, will become a thing of the past.

Key Features

  • Story-driven exploration/adventure: The Night of the Rabbit was conceived, written and designed by Matthias Kempke, who believes that games design is all about creating new worlds to be explored by players.
  • Multi-layered story: it starts out in a light-hearted and funny way, but soon shift to a dramatic and thought-provoking tone over the 20 hours of gameplay.
  • Original character and world design: the animal people who populate the game were originally developed in short stories written by game creator; these stories are included as the in-game bonuses.

✦ AI summary

The Night of the Rabbit is a charming, visually beautiful point-and-click adventure with an engaging story, whimsical atmosphere, and well-crafted voice acting that creates a genuine sense of wonder and discovery. However, players consistently note that puzzle logic can be obtuse and unintuitive, often requiring a walkthrough to progress without frustration, and some feel the game lacks modern quality-of-life features. Most players recommend waiting for a sale rather than purchasing at full price.

A gorgeous, fairytale-like point-and-click adventure that completely nails its whimsical atmosphere and cozy soundtrack. Unfortunately, some frustratingly obscure puzzle logic can halt your momentum, turning a magical journey into a pixel-hunting chore. Beautiful to look at, but best played with a guide handy.

The Night of the Rabbit is a cute little summer adventure by Daedalic Entertainment. I always wonder if they smoke something before coming up with a game, because their games cannot be more different (Deponia, Edna, Satinav). The art style is cute and the puzzles are good. Overall, I really liked the game and the story it told, but the quartet achievement can eat a bag of d****.

TLDR: This is a Daedalic Point and Click Adventure. So unless you like banging your head against the desk wishing the developers had mentioned what substances may have been about during the development of this game while the moon was full, use a walkthrough. Unless you like banging your head against a desk, then have at it. That being said, this is a well done PAC game. The story is good and funny in places. The graphics are cartoony and well done, almost like a picture book, even 13 years later. The voice acting is also well done. The music can be sparse but what is there does add too the feeling of the game. It can get a little loud during the story bits so subtitles might be helpful. This is also a Daedalic game so while on the surface it seems like it is mostly a light hearted adventure, it probably won’t take older players long to figure out that Mr. Churchmouse retired long before the events of the game. While I won’t say it’s not for kids, I will say it does have a few “Oh” moments if your paying attention though, they are not done with a sledge hammer. Definitely worth a play if you like these games or if you want to experience the story with a walkthrough. Story: …

A captivating point and click adventure delivers a rich blend of fantasy, mystery, and coming of age storytelling. A magical world filled with unusual characters and hidden secrets creates a strong sense of wonder from the opening moments. Narrative pacing allows the story to unfold naturally, encouraging exploration and curiosity while steadily revealing the larger themes at the heart of the adventure. Worldbuilding stands out through attention to detail and a setting that feels both imaginative and coherent. Every location contributes something meaningful to the journey, whether through lore, character interactions, or environmental storytelling. A consistent sense of discovery makes exploration rewarding, with new information and surprises waiting around nearly every corner. Puzzle design integrates well with the narrative and world. Challenges rely on observation, logic, and interaction rather than arbitrary solutions, helping progression feel satisfying and intuitive. Inventory management, environmental clues, and dialogue all play important roles in advancing the adventure, creating a balanced gameplay experience from beginning to end. Character writing adds depth and pers…
