About ENDLESS Space™ - Definitive Edition

✦ AI summary

Command one of twelve civilizations in a sprawling 4X space opera where you'll pursue victory through diplomacy, exploration, technological supremacy, or military conquest across hundreds of procedurally generated star systems. Customize your fleets with unique ships and modules, recruit heroes with specialized abilities, and harness the mysterious power of ancient Dust while battling intelligent AI opponents in dynamic simultaneous-turn gameplay.

ENDLESS Space™ - Definitive Edition includes all the expansions and updates released for the game (including ENDLESS Space™ Disharmony).

This galaxy is ancient, and its first intelligent life was the civilization we call the ENDLESS. Long before our eyes gazed upon the stars they flew between them, though all that remains of this people is what we call Dust. A substance found scattered or in forgotten temples, it once gave powers to admirals and galactic governors. The galaxy will belong to the faction that can take control of the Dust and uncover its secrets…

A Born Leader

Guide one of twelve civilizations as you strive for galactic domination. Will you control the entire galaxy through subtle trade and diplomacy, explore every corner of the universe to find powerful artifacts and resources, overwhelm other civilizations with your advanced technologies, or destroy your enemies with massive armadas?

ENDLESS Discoveries

With hundreds of star systems to explore, different planet types, luxuries and strategic resources to exploit, the mysteries within the Dust to master and a host of strange scientific phenomena to deal with, the player will have no lack of challenges. Hire heroes to become fleet admirals or system governors and discover five hero classes and their unique ability trees and specializations.

Space Opera

Experience ENDLESS Space™ with state-of-the-art graphics and interface, switch between strategic battle decisions and long-term planning. Optimize each fleet for epic battles around contested stars. Create the perfect combinations from dozens of unique ships per civilization. Customize your ship with modules, armament, engines and special mods. The player has a plethora of choices of how to best destroy or dissuade his enemy.

Take on the Universe

Play against up to seven opponents and build up – or break – alliances at will. Expect to face a real challenge when playing against AI opponents thanks to the Adaptive Multi-Agent System (AMAS). Discover an innovative and dynamic simultaneous turn-based gameplay. Permit instant jump-in for your ongoing online games. Define your own custom civilizations and confront the ones created by your friends.

ENDLESS Replayability

✦ AI summary

Endless Space offers compelling strategic depth with engaging diplomacy, unique faction mechanics, and an immersive universe enhanced by excellent music and lore. However, players frequently criticize the game as outdated compared to its superior sequel Endless Space 2, particularly citing poor combat mechanics, unclear interfaces, and inferior resource management systems that make it difficult to recommend despite its thoughtful turn-based gameplay.

I’ve been enjoying Endless Space overall. The exploration and empire management are probably the strongest parts for me, and I especially like being able to design ships around different roles in a fleet. There is a lot of depth here, and learning how the different systems work is satisfying. That said, the game can feel a bit overwhelming at first. There are a lot of menus and information to go through, and the amount of micromanagement can sometimes make the experience feel more complicated than it needs to be. The AI can also be frustrating at times, especially when it starts putting together large fleets and applying pressure before you feel properly prepared. Still, there is something very enjoyable about building an empire, researching new technologies, exploring the galaxy, and gradually understanding all the systems. It definitely shows its age in some areas, but if you enjoy classic 4X space strategy, there is still a lot to like here.

Honestly speaking, I am a slow learner myself, probably it doesn't work for me. I played for a few hours. Game feels slow and empty for. Maybe it was good indie-project in 2012, now it looks and feels old...

If you're into spreadsheets, then you might like this one. Sometimes I have urges to create trading sheets for games that have dynamic economies based on the most profitable business routes and other times I leer at this game to quell my lust for data matrices.

Still a great game.. Kind of a lost genre really... (except for Civ and the last few versions of that havent been the best)

If you want "master of orion with improved graphics" then this game is ideal for you. Unfortunately for the development team behind O.G. Endless Space, the 4x landscape has evolved dramatically in the years since its release; no longer is the early-game phase of every turn based strategy game a "mash the next turn button" snooze fest with minimal interactivity.
