Pretty fun little RPG, quite short with a few balancing issues but has lots of interesting takes on classic JRPG mechanics

Breath of Death VII is a nice short game with a funny story but tends to get boring fast due to the same mechanics being repeated over and over. It can be fun to give it a try over the weekend as it is fairly short, however I would have enjoyed it more if they would have fleshed out the rpg mechanics a bit more and added a bit more detail. The soundtrack and story are OK with small references and Easter eggs here and there and I actually enjoyed the ending. I played the initial version not the Reanimated version, it has its charm and holds up although it has no achievements to unlock on steam; Worth a pick-up if its on discount or priced at $2.00 or if like myself you buy it in a bundle together with other games such as Cthulhu Saves the world. PS: A mobile version would be held in higher regards if ever developed.

Game speed is way too high and figuring out how to fix that is too much effort for what this game is.

Decent enough old school jrpg.

Very quaint when you compare it to the abundance of incredibly high-quality throwback JRPGs we have now. Full of humor and references that have not aged particularly well, technically simplistic, repetitive in places... ...But damn if it doesn't have charm to spare. It's hard to convey how cool this was on Xbox 360 in 2010, when we had only just started to get "real" games from indie studios, games that could straight up compete with AAA games in our GOTY lists. And the idea that even just some guys from the Penny Arcade forums could get a game on Xbox, that I could buy for only a couple of bucks, was the coolest thing in the world to me. This felt like a game made by "one of us", and just for us. Now I'd love to say "for 3 bucks, you can't go wrong", but if the above context isn't relatable at all to you, if you're not *really* into indie JRPGs, or you're not old enough that you can still chuckle at "all your base are belong to us" and "the cake is a lie" references ironically, you may want to try one of Zeboyd's newer games instead. If you ARE one of those people though, I highly recommend it.

Fun to waste some time on steam deck on the roadtrip in the car. Very simple, a bit outdated 2010's meta humour. Decent progression system. Considering it often is on sale below €1 I'd pick it up.
