The Evil Within 2

I had this on disc for my PS4 back in the day, and I recently purchased it again during a sale. I'm so glad I did! Quality game with lots of sneaky fun to be had. It will forever be one of my favorites <3

The Evil Within 2 is one of those rare games that proves horror can work extremely well in a semi-open world. The game is divided into several larger areas rather than giving you one completely open map, but these districts are big enough to provide plenty of freedom to explore. You can follow the main story, search houses and side locations for resources, complete optional objectives or simply investigate something suspicious in the distance. And that freedom actually makes the horror better. Every unexplored building becomes a decision. There might be ammunition, crafting materials or something useful inside—but there might also be something waiting for you. When you haven't saved for a while, that simple thought of *"Do I really want to check one more house?"* creates a kind of tension that linear horror games rarely achieve. Resource management plays an important role as well. Ammunition is scarce enough that wasting shots can become a real problem, especially because enemies become more dangerous and aggressive as the story progresses. Best game

Even bigger of a masterpiece than the first game. I still can't believe how they up'ped their game with graphics, cutscenes, voiceacting, cinematography and so on in just 3 years apart. (Evil Within 2014 and Evil Within 2 2017) A really well made continuation, I dont even really think it needs a next chapter, it was really well finished. I enjoyed it a lot, the monsters, the different weaponary, interesting NPCs to get to know, the locations. At first it scared me regarding it's semi-openness since im not the biggest fan of open world games, but this one is really kept small, so it's managable. There are a few side missions, but all of them are interesting and none of them repeating at all. There were no parts in this game which made me feel bored. I loved the jouney and it will have a little place in my heart.
