Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective

a fun puzzle game with a neat story. i enjoyed the 3D graphics stylized to look 2D.

Immensely charming puzzle game that oozes style. The puzzle gameplay is generally fine and not overly complicated, but it does add some new things gradually to keep it bit more fresh. What really kept me going was definitely the story and characters. The story goes all over the place in a wacky way, but it's very engaging all the way through. Also the character animations in this game are impeccable (special shout outs to Inspector Cabanela and the panic dance guard). And Missile's the goodest of boys. Play this for Missile.

Finished Ghost trick, it was a great game for sure, wouldn't go as far to say its better than ace attorney, though. Get ready for a spoiler review! I will say this cast of characters are defo great as well, liked everyone here. There wasnt a wendy oldbag in here lol. I really liked the ending, but one thing that confuses me about it though, What happened to the agency? We just kinda let them run away with the secret? Maybe it was teasing a sequel that never came to be? Idk. The art style was good but after ace attorney i expected better, guess shu and crew just wanted to go for a different style this time around, stikl love the character designs though. Anyway this game from the start to finish was not what i expected it to be, which was just a detective investigating cases by pointing and clicking without the trials, but it was way different. Super underrated game, do recommend for anyone who loves ace attorney.

I'm very conflicted. I'm giving the game a "thumbs up" because I had a great time playing it, but there's a big stipulation about the ending, which was infuriating to me and almost ruined the entire game for me. It isn't so much about the conclusion (which is bittersweet, and I don't have a problem with that), but instead the execution, which used a taboo of good storytelling to get there. Saying anything more specific would spoil it, and frankly I doubt the average player would care that much. However, I studied creative writing in college and grad school, so I'm extremely particular about the ways stories are told, and this ending just ain't it. If you're like me, proceed with caution. If you're not (and you probably aren't), it's a very good game.
