Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy

After nearly a 100 hours of this trilogy, I finished it, experienced the good, the bad and the ugly. This franchise is probably the one franchise I actually got invested into heavily. When I got the first trilogy in June of 2025 I never expected the franchise to be as good as it is. At the time of writing this review, I finished the mainline series and the first half of Investigations Collections, I can't wait to get to the other games but I know I will be sad when I finally finish all games in the franchise. With confidence I can say that: 1. Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney is a great game, ARGUBLY better than the original Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 2. Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies is a great game and I genuinely do not understand why people shun it or dislike it. 3. Phoenix Wright: Spirit of Justice is a good game but admittedly I kind of got annoyed/bored due to the whole Khura'in setting but nonetheless the 5th episode of it was an incredible finale. 4. Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy is a great game, with great story, characters, art, settings, music, plot-twists and much [i][b]MUCH[/b][/i] more. Ace Attorney 7 when Capcom?

Honestly this trilogy is definitely a letdown compared to the first. 4 is bearable because the mechanics are fun (although the story is mid), but 5 & 6 are a total slog to get through. In those, the mechanics are way too gamified. Therapy session in court? cmon man. Seances were interesting, but theyre all done in a overly misleading way. The graphics are severely inferior as well; it just looks really off. If the writing was decent it would at least be worth it to get through but its so awful. Literally all of the stories have the shakiest testimonies & evidence that you're wondering how this is even in court. The pacing is so bad as well that I had to enable skip text. Trials always follows this format: character presents evidence, prosecutor calls him dumb, character makes silly face with the camera slowly paning, repeat until the witness incriminates themself.

ah yes, red phoenix.. investgations woulda came here, but in writing this had just came w/ timing. as divisive & reluctant to say this may be the more easier entries into the ace attorney games i think there was a couple of plot-holes that rly made my head churn about how to figuring the case out especially with the newer ace attorney (5 & 6) going after the original trilogy. really only thought the apollo justice game was the game that was supposed to extend the continuation of apollo justice story but really it got turned into phoenix wright and they mystery gang (scooby doo) in writing, rumors just spreading around about the successor to ace attorney soj/aa6 but who knows what yr when capcom decides to release (doubt they are as they should since they milk only MH/RE/SF nowadays) would recommend playing investigations after AA:AJ/aa4 but i doubt that the playthrough in any order has anything to make your experience diff
