You've unleashed chaos across the kingdom by freeing the Mine Valley prisoners, and now must restore order to Khorinis through over 100 missions across a rich, living world populated by 500 unique characters with their own daily routines. Wield 200+ weapons and spells to shape your own story in this immersive medieval RPG that combines the main game with the Night of the Raven expansion.
You have torn down the magical barrier and released the prisoners of the Mine Valley. Now the former criminals of the forests and mountains are causing trouble around the capital of Khorinis. The town militia is powerless due to their low amount of force–outside of the town, everyone is helpless against the attacks of the bandits.

In order to run the game you basically have to change some values in the Gothic.ini which you can find in Gothic folder --> Sytem folder. sightvalue=4 scalevideos=0 playlogovideos=0
It’s different from the first game, lighter in tone rather than darker, but just as fun and legendary.
I like it. I prefer the first game, but I can't deny that the second has many improvements. Game is way too long in my opinion. I've never actually finished it..
Greatest game in original trilogy!
Well, it took many years for me to return to Gothic franchise. I liked the first game but felt it was much more difficult than my usual RPG games. I played it upon its release. It was before any souls-like games. I saw that the series developed but stopped paying attention. And I am very glad I played Gothic 2. I felt it was even better than the first one. The first game felt as if it had some limits. The concept provided these limitations - the Barrier, the camps, and the desire to break through. In Gothic 2 you don't feel these constraints. You feel there is orcs' siege, dragon attacks but you can travel back and forth if you need. I liked the area of Khorinis, exploring it, finding caves and chests. I absolutely loved Valley of Mines and what happened to it. The endgame felt a bit cut and forced but it may be related to the overall length of previous chapters. In any case, the series are worth playing and revisiting. I am happy they decided to remake the first game.
