FINAL FANTASY® XIII-2

Having played the game with FF13Fix and Nova Chrysalia, I had a smooth experience with the PC port. Although I enjoyed the gameplay far more than FF13, the story was a genuine meh. I HATE time travel/multiverse stuff in any media. Having read Fragments Before and planning to read Fragments After, the most genuine fun I had was reading the chapter about how Hope's father Bartholomew and Cid's right arm Rygdea staged a coup against the old Sanctum government to set up the provisional government. Instead of what we have, I would have loved to see the game introduce the Farseer tribe and Caius as the original inhabitants of Gran Pulse, with Caius leading a war against Cocoon. That could have given us a completely new perspective on the conflict between Cocoon and Pulse while actually expanding the world established in FF13, rather than jumping into time travel and alternate timelines. If they'd just let us experience all of this stuff in the game and moved forward without all the time travel nonsense, the story and the game overall would have been far superior.

best game in the trilogy

FFXIII-2 is a direct sequel of the previous game maintaining the same gameplay with sertain improvements and expanding its lore substancially by the dubious (although correctly developed in my opinion) narrative resource of time travelling. If you liked the first game you will not miss anything from it when you play this sequel: there are only two playable characters this time but the new and fantastic Pokémon-like mechanic of monster catching is a lovely addition to a battle system that, for me, was already excellent in the original FFXIII.

This game is amazing for it's time. There is time travel and a story that really pulls you in, if you can look past the graphics, the music and emotional pull makes it so worth it! It's interesting, it has you go through time to fix things, fight to save the world. Like any emotional FF game, it gets a bit dramatic and sad here and there, but it wouldn't be Final Fantasy without it! Oh! and the battle system is interesting, it's like watching a movie and pressing the buttons. It can be stressful but it's different than the old turn base, which if you like that, you may hate this. But if you're like myself and don't like turn base or weren't brought up on it, this is a new thing and was pretty cool I thought :D Give it a try if you haven't, I recommend it! Just be warned, the story doesn't get much better after this game..
