About ArcaniA: Fall of Setarrif

✦ AI summary

Lead a legendary hero and allies through a demon-infested Southern Isles as volcanic chaos and political conspiracy threaten the coastal city of Setarrif. This standalone expansion delivers a 4-8 hour quest packed with fresh enemies, weapons, and mysterious new locations that expand the Arcania universe with gripping new story threads.

Face the last challenge - determine destiny!
A new threat casts its shadow over the Southern Isles. A mysterious demon, consumed by hatred, terrifies the population and pools his force against the coastal city of Setarrif. The dramatic situation exacerbates after a volcanic eruption in the mountains nearby. Thereupon the nameless hero joins forces with his strongest allies and courageously faces the new menace.
Even after king Rhobar III was freed from the demons control, the struggle apparently is not over. The king already ordered his armies to conquer Setarrif, but so far no word from his troops, or the frantic population for that matter, has gotten through.
Experience an all new adventure amidst demonic powers, political intrigue and inscrutable incidents – what’s really going on in Setarrif?

Features:

 • Experience a new, compelling part of the chronicles of Argaan
 • Play parts of the story from your famous allies’ perspective
 • All new enemies as well as new armors and weapons to further expand and hone your combat skills
 • Meet new, lively characters when exploring the (yet) unknown regions & dungeons
 • Stand-alone expansion
 • Playing time: 4 – 8 hours
 • Import your character from the main game (with a character that killed the endboss of ArcaniA main game)
 • New locations and settings (lava/beach/dungeon)

If you thought ArcaniA somehow needed less game, congratulations: Fall of Setarrif is here to answer the question nobody asked. I finished this thing in 100 minutes. That's not a typo. I've had character creators take longer than this expansion. This isn't an expansion, it's a side quest that escaped containment and got sold separately. Some of my favorite features: - the game proudly lets you import your endgame character from ArcaniA, then immediately starts handing out better gear, making the whole feature feel like a participation trophy - there are TWO side quests. Not "very few." Literally two. Calling this an RPG is optimistic The best part is that this was supposed to wrap up ArcaniA's story. Instead it feels like someone found the design document, noticed it was only three pages long, shrugged, and shipped it anyway. By the time I had started caring about anything, the expansion was already over. I've watched YouTube reviews that took longer to explain why this DLC exists than it takes to finish it. If the base game was a mediocre attempt at being Gothic, Fall of Setarrif is downloadable closure for a story that didn't deserve one.

this "game" has reached two points in the ruins of Setarrif where it crashes and I can't continue. nobody really played this piece of ♥♥♥♥ so there are no fixes I can find. bummer, because I do like to finish games, no matter how much they suck. and this ♥♥♥♥ does suck. it should never have been released as a standalone expansion. definitely reeks of scummy publisher practices, especially when the base game literally ends on a cliffhanger so this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ can exist.
ArcaniA: Leftovers
This is a standalone expansion that picks up the story immediately after the ending of the main game. However, it feels far more like a short, underwhelming DLC than a proper expansion, ultimately lacking in both quality and quantity. I can only recommend this to die-hard fans of ArcaniA. Pros: You can transfer your character directly from the main game. Great soundtrack and decent voice acting. Decent combat mechanics, responsive controls, and good optimization. Cons: It is very short; I managed to finish it in a single sitting. Some animations look incredibly goofy and unpolished. The whole package feels less like a built-from-scratch expansion and more like unused assets.

This add-on completes the story of the main game. Gladly, I had the package from a sale. Anyway, it felt like a rip-off getting only a cliffhanger at the end of the hero's journey in the main game. Well, so here we go to finish what we started. And it just felt uninspired and cumbersome. Fight after fight, no exploration or good story or whatever. Just hacking through and beating everything in my way to get the story over with. At least it was short.

Okay, so this game in the series is also pretty weak and boring; not much happens.

Solid expansion. New enemies, armor, and locations. Play as allies too. If you liked the main game, grab this.
