Stranded on a tropical island after your boat is destroyed, you must fight your way through an army of mercenaries using long-range gunplay, stealth, and cunning tactics across stunning environments filled with intelligent AI enemies. Freelance mariner Jack Carver is cursing the day he ever came to this island. A week ago, a brash female reporter named Valerie had offered him an incredible sum of cash to take her to this unspoiled paradise. Shortly after docking, however, Jack's boat was greeted by artillery fire from a mysterious militia group swarming about the island.
With his boat destroyed, his money gone, and the gorgeous Valerie suddenly missing, Jack now finds himself facing an army of mercenaries amidst the wilds of the island, with nothing but a gun and his wits to survive. But the further he pushes into the lush jungle canopy, the stranger things become.
Jack encounters an insider within the militia group who reveals the horrific details of the mercenaries' true intentions. He presents Jack with an unsettling choice: battle the deadliest mercenaries, or condemn the human race to a maniac's insidious agenda.

Players are divided on this game, with some praising its atmospheric World War 2 setting, engaging AI mechanics, and nostalgic gameplay that rewards skillful play, while others find it frustratingly difficult and poorly designed. The consensus seems to be that it's a solid classic experience with strong atmosphere and mechanics, but it demands significant patience and skill from players, making it potentially frustrating for those not prepared for the challenge.
Very much a product of it's time. The gunplay was the only redeeming aspect of this experience for me, but the nonstop hitscanning from enemies really made this painful to play on Hard mode, I eventually caved and started save-scumming through the game because I would die in one hit, over, and over, and over again, even to mundane things. Enemies will shoot you through walls, too.
It's hard to believe a series had stemmed from this game due to it's lackluster performance that doesn't hold up well in 2026. Just to run and have a fair chance to play, you must install mods to be able to keep the game from self destructing. Let alone half of the game feels like im playing DOOM 3, Crytek obviously had tried to copy their homework from id Software. I would skip this game if considering to play the Farcry series, this doesn't really seem to do it any justice.
Works out of the box no problems. Win11. U can add mods to fix issues, but even without the fixes it's playable. It's genuinely a 9/10 game, so much detail and care went into this. Surprisingly fun combat considering the Low detail gun models that suggest the guns feel boring, but NO the first gun in the game is by far my favorite. (Deagle) Well animated, feels good, smooth to shoot and sounds fine. Biggest issues I noticed is some Lightning glitches, physics messing up and sends you flying, NPC sees through tents, NPC notices you from across the map, (rocketguys and snipers), LOD is VERY small. LOD is so small that regular NPC's start shooting at you from the void. The cars 3rd person camera is very wonky. But I'll be honest I was surprised there even are drivable vehicles, let alone a 3rd person view for them. And they feel better to drive than most cars in modern AAA games.
Actually a good game. The characters are nice, and the NPCs actually sound very alive, which is a nice thing compared to a lot of games released in the last few years, where characters sound like the most bored, uninterested people in the galaxy. It's a combination of Predator, Rambo, and Terminator, which gives the game its unique vibe. P.S. Do not try to play it on "realistic" difficulty. It's definitely one of the hardest FPS games ever released.
