Dungeon Solver is a turn-based, dungeon-crawler with a HUGE emphasis on the crawling, the game is slow af. Everything takes forever. Even moving the map around, which you'll be doing a lot bc the zoom don't ever fit the whole level. You select your dude or dudes painstakingly, one at a time, click on the place you want to move to, inching 1 tile at a time towards your objective, if you've got more than 1 guy you can make the 2nd skip it's turn in the hopes that doing so will make the pain last a little less. then each and every enemy animation plays out. Game will say press 'f' to skip but that's a lie bc it only works beyond a certain number of enemies and even then it don't make nothing go faster. So what's the puzzling like? The puzzling is playing chicken with the enemies the game throws at you, usually complicated by the layout of the level and the limitarions on certain heroes movements. Has an interesting idea for a puzzle game, the downsides are numerous though. To move your heroes throughout the dungeon you have to click each hero and then click the tile you want them to move to, there is no shortcut. The idle times throughout the game are unbearable especially when the level has you go back and forth over the entire map. The fast forward only works when the enemies number more then 3 or 4 and you have to manually enable to each and every turn. It took my 7 hours to beat this game only because each level would take five to ten minutes of waiting or god forbid you screw up and die, restart the entire level again. I liked that they had game mechanics that taught you what they did by showing you, instead of bunches of text boxes. Overall 2/10 because the puzzles where decent and you had to actually think for some of them.

Poorly designed, visually drab, tedious to play, and deeply frustrating. The complete lack of QOL features such as a consistent skip turn button or a redo option make the difficulty more in sitting waiting to move you character a single tile, rather than any challenge of the actual gameplay. I have played games that came out of the 7 Day Roguelike challenge that outclass this game in every single category, including visuals.

Its a minimalist game, yes. Its weird. You move arround in a tile based dungeon. You have to click your character for EVERY.SINGLE.TURN instead of just keeping them selected. If multiple player characters are in a stage there is no indicator of who already made his turn and who can still move. Its not too tough to track with 2 characters obviously, but still - you have to track it. My biggest problem with the game is "combat". Getting past enemies and/or defeating them essentialy only comes down to annoyingly waiting and spamming turns where you just move arround on 1 spot waiting for the AI to make a dumb move. Thats all there is to it. Its just waiting for the AI to be stupid. If you walk into their range, enemies will kill you - so thats when they're smart, which is ok. So you sit 1 tile just out of their range and just wait and wait until they move into your attack range, asking to be killed. Theres also a timer counting up for how many turns you took to complete the stange, which makes sense at first, but given the random nature of how long it takes for enemies to be dumb its really not based on you. Dungeon Solver is a cheap puzzle game with interesting mechanics and levels. Since it's made by a small dev and doesn't have many reviews, i'd rather recommend it. However, it plays slowly and the controls are pretty clunky. I think it would benefit greatly from having more keyboard shortcuts and a couple small quality of life improvements: enemy pieces move one by one and the enemy turns, you have to deselect your pieces by clicking on them before you can select another, you have to pan with your keyboard, no way to undo an action (and some levels are pretty long, figuring out how the elf works for example took me a lot of trial and error)... all little things that by no mean make the game unplayable, but add up and make the game feel slower than it could be. The music also got on my nerves pretty fast, although maybe that's just me. The loop just seemed short and repetitive to me. Despite all this, I think the inventive mechanics and level design make it worth a try if you've got some spare change in your Steam wallet and want to show some love to small devs.

In this game you can play as various roles , defeat orcs and enemies and survive, everything done on a cool tiled puzzle way, very well done !
