✦ AI summary

Slender Threads is a charming point-and-click adventure with strong voice acting, gorgeous cartoonish visuals, and enjoyable puzzles that remind players of classics like Monkey Island, though some find the puzzle logic obscure without hand-holding. The main complaint centers on the ending, which players feel undermines the entire story through a convoluted twist that raises more questions than it answers and leaves the narrative feeling unsatisfying. Most players still recommend it for fans of the genre despite this disappointment.

i definitely really liked the game, the puzzles, the voice acting, the paranormal stuff.. not so much the "comedic“ dialogue sometimes, but i can look past it. what i sadly didn’t like at all is the ending. it was the most disappointing, nonsensical thing one could think of:
1. main game: harvey experiences a massive supernatural adventure. 2. twist: "haha, that was just a made-up story." 3. epilogue: now we see the *real*, evil harvey. 4. but: the "real" harvey is a puppet manipulated by a puppeteer on a stage. 5. so, this harvey too, is obviously a depiction - a fiction - within a performance. 6. and if this layer is also a story: who wrote it? 7. if the answer is "puppet-harvey": why can a puppet write stories? 8. and if it can: why is it writing this story in the first place? 9. and if the stage is meant to represent "reality": then who is the puppeteer?
so the problem isn't just that the ending is "unclear". the proposed interpretation actively creates new logical problems. besides that, i’d still recommend it to point & click enthusiasts, as i very much enjoyed playing it and had fun for the vast majority of the time.

It could be a classic point-and-click adventure like Double Fine games, but for me, the ending misses the mark a bit. Yeah, it's unexpected, but still kinda 'worthless' to end a story like that. The story itself is still good though. The puzzles might feel some kind of obscure cause the game is not taking you by the hand in any way: most of the time I just explored locations trying to interact with different things around. Sure, they were logically clear, but I caught myself a few times that I got or did something without understanding why I was doing it at the moment and when I needed these later. Still, I adore the cartoonish visual style here; the characters are memorable, and their voice acting is top-notch. Also the game is funny in a good way, like Broken Age, Crushed In Time or Foolish Mortals, not being too silly like Detective Grimoire games where everything is too annoying to enjoy.

Fun point-and-click adventure in the familiar style of Monkey Island. The main character is very reminiscent of Guybrush Threepwood. The humour was great too, giving me many chuckle-out-loud moments. The puzzles were a little dull at times but good enough overall. I absolutely adore the visual style, you can tell a lot of love has gone into that aspect. Well worth playing for point-and-click adventure lovers.
