About 9-nine-:Episode 3

✦ AI summary

9-nine-: Episode 3 is a supernatural mystery visual novel where you investigate a series of petrification murders in a city plagued by reality-warping Artifacts, uncovering secrets about a mysterious organization called Rig Veda while developing a relationship with your schoolmate Haruka. This third episode stands alone with its own complete story, gorgeous artwork, full Japanese voice acting, and branching paths leading to multiple endings.

Concept

9-nine- Episode 3 is the third volume in a series of supernatural mystery games, with Episode 3 telling a story centered around Haruka Kosaka.
The entries in the the 9-nine- series share the same setting and world, but each entry focuses on a different heroine. 9-nine- is a tale of the town of Shiromitsugawa, host to mysterious Artifacts and the superpowers they bestow on their Users.

A tale of growing trust and budding romance between the protagonist and the heroine, and also a murder mystery where they hunt down the culprit behind a series of supernatural murders. A tale of our group running into an organization composed of Artifact Users called Rig Veda. What is their goal, and what is the real goal of the culprit? Will romance develop by working together?

Each game has an independent story that can be enjoyed on its own. We hope you enjoy the experience that is the 9-nine- series.
Shiromitsugawa City: an academic city with no other particular features.

A large earthquake hits the city, damaging the sacred treasure in the Shrine of the White Viper's Relic, and causing strange items to appear from a parallel world. These "Artifacts" grant strange powers to their owners, with incidents of an owner abusing their powers and turning people into stone.

Having learned of the item that causes this petrification, the "Evil Eye Artifact", Kakeru Niimi teams up with his classmate, Miyako Kujo, and his sister, Sora Niimi, to investigate and put a stop to the culprit.

During the investigation, they find themselves at odds with "Rig Veda", an organization of Artifact users. Among their members, they spot their upperclassman in school, Haruka Kosaka.

9-nine-: Episode 3 is the latest chapter in this series of supernatural mystery visual novels with the focus now shifted towards a new heroine, Haruka Kosaka.

This entry is not quite as solid as the game before it. Unfortunately the game suffers a bit from wanting to be both Haruka's character game and setting everything up for the finale. This leads to the pacing being much faster in the story sections and much slower in the character sections, making it feel quite uneven. The two parts also don't feel that connected to each other. That just makes it a relatively weaker entry compared to the previous very strong one however, it's still a good game in its own right and an essential part of the series. The story starts getting really interesting with the direction it takes, while for the previous two it still felt like they were their own stand-alone stories more, this is where the full extent of the overarching plot gets revealed. All the progress in the story is really exciting. Haruka is also an interesting character, although she suffers a bit from getting overshadowed by the story developments.

the first two episodes do not really need to exist they are only really their for world building, the first volume is mediocre and so is the main girl of that episode all it does is just world building but it did not need to be 10 hours long. the reason why i rate the 2nd one so high is cause the sister is the best written character and pretty much carries it, but i do have to say her scenes are actually very emotional and well done probably the best written part of the story so far. the 3rd episode Haruka's power is so op but the only reason she doesnt use it is cause shes shy and is a ♥♥♥♥♥, at least her h scenes were well animated (they do a pretty good job at making good h scenes in this series). The 3rd episode didnt really need to be this long i feel as if only the last 3 hours are actually intersting and the post credits scene is a really really intersting direction to take the game, lets see if it goes well when i read episode 4. all in all this is definitely the weakest episode and has the worst girl who to be honest is just annoying (it also doesnt help that i dislike the character type), also the story and set up also just drags a lot like previous episodes 3/10. but th…

A story about learning to love and accept yourself. Episode 3 is my favourite so far it had just the right amount of story and lore drops while also maintaining the perfect balance of slice of life and romance. Haruka was a very interesting character throughout episodes 1 and 2 and i was very delighted to be able to learn more about her characters story and personality expanded as a member of the group, im hoping the quality shown here carries over towards episode 4 and they give the same writing quality to Noa as much as Haruka had.

Warning, some spoilers exist for episodes 1-2 in this comment. I ASSUME that if you are here, you are beyond episodes 1 and 2. Episode 3, in my opinion, is the perfect ending. A good love, unlike episode 2 where the love interest was the cause of the bad ending, this one has a great connection with the love interest. The mutual benefits to both parties brought them both up, through some decent fight scenes, and character building they hit a GREAT ending on this episode. I haven't quite hit episode 4, but there is no way they could top the ending with the secondary character here. 9-nine continues to impress and build a great lore around a pseudo groundhog day. I love this series. patch for 18+ content is entirely optional, if you do not get it, then its heavily suggested when that content was inserted, but you miss nothing other than a couple scenes. Unlike other games where you miss 50%+ of the game without the patch, this one is closer to <1% of the game.

Probably my favorite of the whole series in terms of actual writing and plot development. This one honestly could have been the ending and I would have felt most things were resolved. However, I am glad Episode 4 exists, as there are a few lingering questions at the end of this one. Even though it turned out pretty well I do think some romantic potential here was squandered.

Out of the first 3 episodes, this is definitely the best one. The lore drop is insane. Who would've thought the relationship between Kakeru and Haruka would be this fast considering what we've seen previously. Also, I have no idea what the ending was meant to say yet.. perhaps, it's a hint for the next episode.
