Embraced by Autumn

Embraced by Autumn is a very good visual novel game with a beautiful story. The graphics are nice and the soundtrack is relaxing... The ebi-hime games are really great!!! I highly recommend it. 💗

The premise could be a bit uncomfortable, but it worked out respectfully which I'm happy about. I liked how Marcel(le)'s story went and their confusion and difficulties. There is a single choice about 33% through, that leads to four distinct routes. Make sure to save at that choice so you can experience all four routes. Otherwise it's a linear story, with no other choices or endings. There are some heavy topics, especially during Luce and Mirabel's routes. Each route also gives you a different view of each character, so it's well worth doing all of the four routes to understand everyone's motivations and backgrounds. Music is decent, and the artwork I really liked. There's a gallery of scenes that fully fills out when you do all four paths. It played perfectly on the SteamDeck (since I finally got it back from RMA) using the default keyboard and mouse profile that is used for most VN's.

Embraced By Autumn is a romance visual novel created by ebi-hime that leans into atmosphere, character work, and gentle storytelling rather than spectacle or mechanical complexity. The setup could easily have been treated as a gimmick, but here it becomes the foundation for a thoughtful story about identity, belonging, and the fragile connections formed between people when secrets are involved. From the very beginning, the narrative establishes a quiet tension between Marcel’s need to conceal his true self and his growing bonds with those around him. The narrative focus rests firmly on the people Marcel meets at the school. Four distinct heroines form the backbone of the story: the cool and distant Luce, the hot-tempered Claudine, the refined and serious Céline, and the clumsy but endearing Mirabel. Each of these routes provides its own emotional journey, with conversations, subtle gestures, and gradual revelations shaping the relationship. This is a very sweet VN. The only choice that you have to make is which route you want to pursue, but the all four of them are equally nice. I highly recommend saving Claudine's route for last. Claudine plays enough of a role in the other three routes that you can get to know her and see what she is like in them so that when you play her route you are able to enjoy it all the more.
