Beloved Rapture

I was really hopeful of this game. the pixel art is nice, the music is great. However the story is awful like i just don't care. why does Jonah care so much about a mom who was pretty clearly emotionally manipulative at best and straight up abusive at worst, same with his "friend" Zach who just Negs him every other sentence. Putting the nonsensical plot aside my main gripe with this game is the combat. For a game that seems to pride itself on No Grinding why even 7 hours in my party just shy of level 30 do enemies hit ME for 380ish damage per attack while my little idiots are lucky to deal over 150. Magic is clearly the way to go even for a character like Jonah who had a stat of over 300 in his physical attack and not even 200 in his magic attack, his spells still did double of what a plain physical attack does. the stats don't seem to matter, the character motivations are shallow at best and the combat and movement are both clunky and frustrating

Incredible story. I fell in love with these characters. The representation really mattered to me and felt natural and relatable.

The story is genuinely impressive, especially in its character development, worldbuilding, foreshadowing, and emotional payoff. I did find Johan facing his father, Drago, a little strange, particularly with his friends simply leaving him to face him alone. It might have felt more natural if a barrier, lava, or another obstacle separated the group. The ending also felt a bit rushed and cutscene-heavy, and I would have loved to see Johan and Zach have a proper farewell. Still, I can only hope that moment happened off-screen. Overall, I really loved the game, especially as a gay player. It’s great to see this kind of LGBTQ+ representation in an adventure JRPG rather than having it limited to visual novels.

Game is really good but I ran into an issue at the Griffle boss where it kept crashing. I fixed it by going back and using the heal statue and then going back to the fight area.

Good story.
