Uproot is a sweet point-and-click adventure with a cute story and lovely artwork. It focuses on a small mandrake who, after helping others in his village, goes out into the world in search of a stolen object. You have a number of 'fetch' tasks and puzzles are a mix of 'find and use' and mechanical exercises. There is an auto-save feature plus the ability to explicitly save to a single slot. All achievements are story-related so I believe you will get 100% by finishing the game. While I enjoyed the musical background, I found the voice overs to be a bit off-putting. However, turning the voice volume off is slightly problematic because not all dialog is displayed as text. For the most part, I played with music on and voices off. There is a very helpful hint system which gives visual cues as to what to do next. In some cases, the hint is the solution to the puzzle. Some puzzles are solved through trial and error. Other had clear clues. For some of the machinery conundrums, I never did understand how I was supposed to figure out the solution. In these cases, I used the hints when I grew weary of trial and error. Overall, this is not a hard game and most situations were fairly easy …

Uproot is a very cute puzzle adventure game. It's a coming of age adventure for a young mandrake who must save the world from an evil rat king. It has a sweet story and the graphics are colorful and nice. The puzzles get harder as the game progresses, with machinery or a situation that you have to figure out on your own. Almost all of the puzzles made sense and were logical to me, except one. That one, I could not figure out at all, but luckily there is an in-game hint system that spelled out the solution and helped me move on. Every game needs one crazy puzzle you just can’t figure out, right? There are both autosaves and a manual save slot to keep your progress. The only thing I was not a fan of was the computer-generated voice overs. But the developers were nice enough to have three audio settings and I simply turned off the voices but was able to keep the music and sound effects. I enjoyed playing Uproot and recommend it to point and click adventure players. It’s priced very fairly and was a fun game!

It was the AI generated voice acting that did me in, I couldn't stand listening to it, and the conversations were such a drag. I like short cute fun games but this immediately was not worth the $2 I paid for it... Sorry but I think it would have been easier to continue playing if the game devs had just opted for no voices for the characters. My other opinion of the game is that demographics wise if anyone younger than 8 years old to play this they may not care so much, and it might be a decent game for that age range... other than that... I can't recommend it.

Family-friendliest Point n' Click you'll find. All the charm in the world, clear art, fitting music, kid character, rat villains, simple story, and fully voiced (by neighbours, on a budget, but still...) The gameplay and puzzles are quite good, which is key. The journal lets you take breaks without losing the plot. The interface is simple and efficient; all it lacks is multiple save slots. Easy recommendation.

A cute adventure / puzzle game. I like the atmosphere, music and art work. A couple of criticisms, one being that the voice acting was hit and miss , and two the puzzles are mostly logical but some did just seem to rely on trial and error. If you are looking for a relatively short and cosy game this one is worth the price.

this puzzle game, has an adorable art style, a great storyline and has some cool puzzles! i had have to use the hints quite a few times though haha! the voices for the characters were random (in a good way), but actually pretty entertaining! took me just over 3 and a half hours, over the course of 2 days and i loved it! so i highly recommend it and i'd honestly love to see another game of this :D
