Welcome To Everdell from Dire Wolf Digital is a gentle, approachable digital board game that distills the broader Everdell universe into a more streamlined and beginner-friendly experience. Rather than trying to replicate the full complexity of its tabletop counterpart, it focuses on clarity, accessibility, and a relaxed pace, making it an inviting entry point for players who may be new to strategy or worker-placement games. The design is intentionally simplified, but it still retains enough structure to feel purposeful and engaging. At its core, the game revolves around building a small woodland city over the course of several rounds. Good adaptation, extended tutorial covers everything you need to know, the additional assets and tactile response is also pretty good. NPC turns can just take a while.

[h1]Very short summary:[/h1] It's a relatively simple, and I mean that in no way negative, worker placement game that, with a limited amount of options compared to the "bigger ones" is a good start into worker placement, absolutely beautiful, as Everdell is, and, compared to the original Everdell, a bit less of everything, less stuff to miss and less turns to plan ahead. With that it's great as a slightly easier start into the genre, but also really fun if you, maybe, just want a more relaxed game of Everdell when your head feels too tired to plan three or four turns ahead. -- [h1]What is it in general?[/h1] Like the "big" Everdell, this one is mostly a "worker placement" game. You place your workers, which gives you resources, and from that you play cards. In the best case you find synergies of cards that play well into each other, give you more resources, and let you play even more cards. Thus it's a nice entry to both, worker placement and very simple "engine building" by combining card effects. All that in an absolutely adorable look and even with a short and cute "story" campaign of 2 - 4 hours which can also act as a extended tutorial. -- [h1]How is it compared to Everdel…

What a great gateway to the Everdell franchise! It also has a sister app titled “Welcome to Everdell” (costs $3.99 in the Apple app store). So I can play it digitally both on my PC and mobile on my iPad. It has a replayable tutorial “campaign” that does a fabulous job of teaching the core rules of Everdell. After playing this and it's big brother Everdell on Steam, I bought the full TTBG versions of both “Lil Everdell” and The Everdell Complete Collection.

An absolutely stellar digital translation of the board game! Everdell can be challenging to learn for people who don't play a lot of board games, and this version is a great primer to understanding the more complex mechanics of the standard game. Even a kid can learn to play through the several campaign missions (complete with adorably cute dialog), and then be introduced to the harder version in a short matter of time. All that said, I LOVE the breezy play of this title. Lots of different modes that includes single player story, single player against AI, online and hotseat multiplayer. Even knowing what I'm doing on the standard game I find myself drawn back to the quick and simple play of this title. Definitely an easy recommendation, especially when on the deep discount that they offer on occasion.
