Guns of Fury

A hidden pearl in the metroidvania category. If you want to reach 100% completion, the game eventually gives you the tools to find everything without searching aimlessly. NG+ has some new items in the shops but they don't count. The only thing I haven't appreciated are the missable endings.

Bleh. It's only superficially like MS games. The platforming and their physics is ho-hum, the shooting is boring, the foes are not challenging or even remotely unpredictable, the music and so forth is pretty repetitive. There's some cool work put into the graphics and environments so that was nice. It's just not worth it, even on sale. I tried so hard to like it but I find no reason to keep playing.

Metal Slug, but if it was a Metroidvania. Really fun, great weapon variety, and some cool movement tech. Boss fight are unexpectedly difficult, requiring some serious pattern memorization along with a lot of luck. You can theoretically heal-spam through them, but it would take a lot of money to pay for that many healing items. Fair warning, don't try to obsessively collect all of the secrets every time you get a new upgrade. A lot of them require a combination of abilities, so you'll spend a lot of time running back and forth for little reward. The game introduces a much better fast-travel option in the late game, and a radar that shows every room with missed secrets right before the final boss.

التقييم: عشرة من عشرة من أول ما شغلت اللعبة ومسكت خط فيها وأنا معجب بشكل مو طبيعي! الخلطة بين الأكشن السريع واستكشاف المترويدفينيا والبيكسل آرت الأسطوري طالعة خرافية وتدخلك جو ريترو محترم. أي واحد يحب الاستكشاف وتطوير القدرات مع جلد وتصويب سريع لازم يجربها بدون ما يفكر. ابداع يسوى كل ريال!

It’s a fun little mashup of Run & Gun with Metroidvanias. It was billed as a Metal Slug-troidvania, but I didn’t really find it to be that. Despite some of the visual stylings, it was far more Contra than Metal Slug. Fans of the genre will know what I mean. It was still pretty fun though, despite some of the end-game mcguffins being hidden in very hard to find places. The map design overall was mediocre, but the action was very good throughout. One of the bosses was cheezy and janky, but the rest were pretty solid. Very impressive overall for a game with only 4 names in the credits.
