Very few games can ever claim to be the digital equivalent of learning how to ride a bike: the kind of high learning curve experience in which you will fall to the ground several times trying to learn how to ride it, but once it clicks, you feel like the carp that swam up the waterfall to become a dragon. This is what it takes to become a Bioranger of the Baionlenja Corporation. Baionlenja is a unique game that takes the movement based puzzle chamber gameplay of the likes of Portal and swaps the portal gun with bunny hopping and a sword that allows you to perform rocket jump-like maneuvers. The concept is simple but mastering it is a different story. Bunny hopping, an advanced movement tech seen in some of the oldest full-3D first person games such as Quake, are a mandatory skill that the game will slowly train you to use and it WILL expect you to get to grips with the technique or else you will not make it past the first level let alone the tutorial. If this sounds intimidating, don't worry, the way the game teaches things allows you to practice until you get the hang of things. After beating the main game, and the needle, i can confidently say that this was one of my favorite, most cerebral, gaming experiences of all time. I hope to see more come out of this game.
