Ever play D&D and get railroaded by your DM hardcore? Its like that, despite whatever you do, what the DM wants to happen happens regardless. And while I understand games are limited in what they can do, this felt like an exercise in futility, and while I'm sure some folks will enjoy that aspect, I do not. So not for me, having been a fan of fighting against the odds stories, this one was remarkably... unsatisfying in whatever it wanted to convey. It says Book one, I have no desire to read the second considering the ending. But make your own decisions and decide if its worth it, for me I'd say skip this one.2 found this helpful
7.5/10 the good: -the writing is amazing -immersive -good characters -great original plot -creative chapter layout* the bad: -*creative sure, but i dont think it works for this book -too short, why are we only spending milliseconds in some of the most important moments of our lives??? its an Interactive Fiction... LET ME INTERACT WITH IT -not much choice for the mc's personality -stat management is blunt and not well done imo -we barely talked to the other main characters (but i think this is more of an issue of the book's overall length, too much information crammed into a short game) the good outweighs the bad by 75% (if that's how the math works idk) so yeah, its good but not great1 found this helpful
One of my fave IFs
I really like this, I dont want to call it a game so probably a choice bases digital novel? idk but i really enjoyed it and I hope there will be more
> Title : A Mage Reborn > look inside > A Mage's Demise > Doomed yuri made me want to cast will cast Power Word Kill on myself/10
This is really well-written, if albeit short. You play as a mage, story gets very angsty at the end - imo it's almost whiplash in the last few chapters. Romance is really nice, but again very bittersweet. If you're looking for a feel-good time it's not here. If you do want: fantasy, tragedy, ANGST - this is a good choice. Recommended, but personally still mad about the ending.
