Archmage Rises

Until things change I cannot recommend anyone to buy the game. With the old map generation things were different, you would be able to search each tile if it had something there (Either for tracks or resources) and if you passed the skill check you were able to either follow the tracks or collect the resource. Now instead you must find enemies through the new event system which is ok, collecting resources on the other hand is borderline impossible. There is no way to figure out if a tile has a resource on it, and asking npc's isn't much of a help either because when you get the place they said to go to nothing happens. And lets say hypothetically you reload a game to a previous state before you found a resource, now it is gone, like it never existed, even if you walk all over the tile. This either needs to change or we need a tutorial that explains how this new system works because I am banging my head against a wall.

The game was pretty fun long ago, but at some point, they changed the map's amazing, free form interactivity to a heavily restrictive, event based system which makes the world feel lifeless and even nonsensical at times (imagine not finding any wood when you're surrounded by woodland tiles). Being able to enter and explore every tile, and enter any cave/dungeon you found at any time, without needing to constantly ask NPCs for directions, was fun. If they ever change the current event system back to an improved version of what they had before, I'll change this review into a positive one.

it was fun before, lots of potential and saw where they were going with the design. i come back after 8 months of letting it "develop" and now i wonder what the hell the developers are actually doing. don't know if they read the comments but "how about you make it playable? you had a good thing going before where there was a game that you could sandbox and enjoy but now? what exactly if the pull? i can't amass wealth, you pit me against people i never meet again after the initial bits. questing WAS fun. building my tower WAS fun, amassing wealth and power WAS fun." now it is 20 mechanics that COULD tie in together if any of them were actually implemented fully. they just work on an idea for months then either abandon it, or even better get it half fleshed out and move onto another another IDEA and never finish that. in conclusion it WAS sorta fun, now it IS boring and pointless abandonware quality garbage thats forever in early access and not in the minecraft kind of way.

Was looking for a new D&Desque experience, sadly, this is not it. The game lacks any real depth and the encounters are far too difficult. I wouldn't recommend this purchase, this will not be a game I will invest any time in.

I have Played this game in 2 two hour runs, once when you could explore titles and it was pretty fun. The current set up doesn't have the ability to explore titles. Its randomly generated. I spent a hour trying chop wood, in the first town. When it updates it could be good, but right now waste of money.

Game was pretty fun a while back but now it kinda sucks, all the new systems don't really integrate well and getting rid of the old hexe exploration system limits the game so much that your character will die trying to get money to learn "spells" to find wood, when finding wood is one of the first quests. So now in a game about exploring and growing your power, you find nothing, played a new game for 3 hours had one enemy encounter, found one nut grove and lost all of my quests that had time limits, LIKE WHERE IS THE FUN IN THAT
