About Blind Fate: Edo no Yami

It’s a new, dark and machine-filled Edo period, and the Shogunate rules over Japan with its just, but pitiless hand: you.

You follow orders. You obey. You kill.

Until your sight is taken from you, and you must learn to “feel” the world anew...

— A world of data and lies

The Mask of the Oni creates a simulation of the world around you, but tread carefully: old data will show you only deceiving echoes of the past.

— Swords sing unseen

Even blind, you are unstoppable. Use different sensors to detect your enemies and identify their weak spots, then crush them with lightning speed.

— Robotic folktales of Japan

Discover the story of dozens of robotic versions of Japanese folktale creatures! Find their weaknesses and destroy each one with a devastating finisher!

— Long-lost mechanical lore

Your sensors pierce the curtain of the past. Use sound, smell and heat to explore the world, uncovering centuries of lore and guiding Yami on his vengeful, story-driven journey.

The Dojo awaits...

90% great but 100% disappointing. This one is a rare case of a game that I really want to like, but in the end I just cant recommend it in its current state. There is some really unique and even fun game ideas but the execution is good at times and other times is just terrible. Many of the cut scenes are just cringe worthy while at the same time the story isn't bad... its just disappointing. The final boss was the final nail for me. When almost all of the game is full of pushover easy baddies and then the final boss just one hit kills you over several phases and so much of this action sequence button pushing that just feels lazy. This feels like a case where funding ran out and they just said ship it like this and hopefully we'll fix it post production but never did. This game has potential but just doesn't live up to it. Also, don't look at my recorded time, I tend to leave games on and use my computer as an ultra low efficient room heater. the game is really about 5-10 hours depending on how much you plan to complete it.

Good concept, poor execution. Using sound/smell/heat to detect enemies and overcome environmental challenges is really unique, but the game just isn't fun to play. Movement feels slow and clunky, parrying and ranged attacks are pointless as you can easily dodge everything with i-frames. The game looks decent but 90% of the time you're stuck with a colour filter over everything to show what sense you're using. Story is terrible and the writing doesn't fit the tone of the game. "I'm weird. / Yeah, you're weird." or when the Ancient AI says "Sup bro!" The dragon boss bugged out on it's 3rd phase so I had to redo the fight as there wasn't a checkpoint. Also during this fight you have to wall-climb which isn't explained, and it doesn't work well. You have to hold up to climb upwards, then hold left/right to jump sideways. If you press "A" to jump or kick off the wall like most other games you just fall. A simple explanation of the controls would have helped. There's also a complete lack of direction - no map, no guidance on which areas to travel to first. Check the Steam forums and loads of people are asking for help. I'm currently in a hidden side area which seems to be endless. So…

Clunky movement and combat. Story is ok Too many collectibles that needs backtracking on same map over and over. Got tired and don't wanna complete it.

The movement in this game is awful. There are so many bugs that kill you or stop progression making you have to die or reload. Wouldn't recommend.

the weak spot attack & the 3 senses concept is fun, but the stiff control in combat makes it really hard to enjoy, moreover, the attack doesnt feel satisfying at all, mainly due to lack of sound design and attention to attack/execute animation. As a hack and slash game, the stamina bar is the worst mechanic that constantly breaking combat flow. the story also suffered badly, the cutscene cut in an absurd way that left me ??? most of the time, like u'll expect the cutscene to continue but then thats it???

Game plays great at the beginning, starting to disintegrate/distracting and get boring mid way....
