Decide your own role and create your own adventure in Blood & Gold!
You could start out as a mercenary, accept an assassination mission, collect your reward, walk into a tavern and spend it all in a game of blackjack. Pick up a hooker, lend "protection" services to her procurer and get hit with a stool in your face during a street fight.
Get enslaved and sent to work in a mine, escape with your fellow prisoners, beat all the guards, then rob convoys with an army of former slaves. Save some gold, buy your first plantation and get rich by trading sugar.
Marry a governor's daughter, acquire a colony to rule and declare war against Spain. Spend all your savings on cannons, lose 10 boats and a corvette during a sea siege. Rush in first during a breach of the fortress in Havana and die from your own flagship's friendly fire.

the game is very hard at first, as it is unforgiving for newbies and experimented players: It is a very fun game but limited you will finish the game in 10 to 15hrs. When you reach the end, there will be no more enemies and therefore nothing else to do. In this game, you will get a boat, fire grape-shot at other boats, board them, kill them all, then sell the boat to make money. Money will let you recruit troops to secure your boats or your towns. If you do not create your own nations, capturing cities will be for your country with very little reward. If you do create your own nation, you will be the prime target of everyone else :-). Capturing a city by sea is fun and quite easy with the right ships. Capturing a city by land will let you tremendous amount of casualties. Sleep with the prostitutes to reset your fame (they know every governor). beware, if you get knocked out, you will be put to slavery and lose your money and equipment (though you could put some to the bank). Use savegames (and select allow me to quit without saving) Do not attempt to earn money with trading, it is randomly set and changes over time. (and you will most likely lose money). yeah just dont. overcomplicates basic actions and ideas, controls are awful
good game wish it continued into development especially for multi player. i played 300+? hours on my old account and it was addicting and a lot of fun. it would be perfect with larger armies on land battles its capped at 100 but its still a good game. ship assaults on land forts and army invasion is a total blast.
Originally I didn't like the game since it was unfinished, slightly confusing and honestly a terrible take on the Mount & Blade engine that doesn't offer anything new besides the pirate theme however I played it for about 7-8 hours and I've come to like it a little bit. It does have some charm to it and I am deciding to keep it in my main collection since it has it's own little charm. Originally I struggled with this and Caribbean Legend; trying to decide which one to keep for my pirate itch and honestly they both are decent contenders that offer slightly differing aspects. So much so as said before I am keeping this in my main collection (not hiding and forgetting about it). Wrote in note format for me to remember in Playnite, however copied and pasted here. Additional context I do so ever slightly recommend this game as it's buggy on release and to this day as well as the devs abandoned it however if you're a Mount & Blade fan I'd recommend giving it ago if you can get it for a few bucks - the very least you'll get 5-10 hours out of it.
Good game, but relatively bare with repetitive quests or activities. It's fun to have and play a bit from time to time, but don't expect too much from it
