About Catechumen
171 A.D., a great evil lurks in the shadows of ancient Rome, one that corrupts the souls of man and gives shape to the will of demons. As an initiate into the Realm of Sacred Mysteries, you have learned your mentor has been taken along with other members of your faithful brethren. The challenge for you is to confront the horrors of the labyrinthine catacombs that are located beneath the city where they have been imprisoned as victims of a sinister conspiracy.
Corruption, possession, and evil await you, however, divinity will bestow upon you a blessed arsenal that will bring your numerous opponents to their knees.
By these mighty powers, restore these tormented souls and bring light into the darkness. Steel your resolve and challenge immortal enemies as you dive deeper into the depths, to the very brink of hell and damnation.
Face demons and beasts of unspeakable horror. Follow your divine quest through the catacombs and unravel an engrossing tale that tests you against the profane and unholy, stepping into the legacy of a Guardian of Truth.

As a pastors kid, this was my DOOM.2 found this helpful
I love this game bro. doom but christian themed. very cool atmosphere and loads of fun. you run around and blast demons with your jesus sword. what more is there to say. to the people complaining about the difficulty/jankiness: i played through this game when i was 6 years old, and just beat it in 6 hours (playing for the first time since i was a kid). in other words: skill issue.2 found this helpful
Catechumen is like Doom, but instead of a shotgun, your weapon is the "Sword of the Spirit" that makes hugging roman soldiers pray the gay away and demons explode, Health pickups? try reading Bible quotes mid-catacomb rampage. It's the ultimate Christian FPS where the real boss is figuring out if you're saved enough to beat the endgame.1 found this helpful
Like Ominous Horizons, I have been looking to replay this game. It is a pretty standard shooter Doom-like game, but is thematically enjoyable. The gameplay is enjoyable for a more challenging old school shooter and the controls work well. The game does not have a very in depth story, but is worth playing for the gameplay. I recommend this game. NOTE: You will need to likely use something like dgVoodoo and RivaTuner Statistics to run the game properly on modern systems. A lot of mechanics are tied to the frame rate, so you need to have it capped at about 30FPS to run well.1 found this helpful
Very based FPS. Very fun FPS with neat levels and soundtrack. Atmosphere is pretty scary too, I like it.
I bought this game simply for the hell of it. Plus it was on sale. The controls are way to hair triggered. You move way to fast. This makes it very hard to control myself and I end up crashing into the walls or the guards. The guards get stuck running into walls. They also kill you way too fast.
