About DarkStorm
Long ago, humanity was ambushed by a mysterious alien race. Many perished—while those who survived were forced to find refuge in the mountains. Many years have passed, and the survivors cannot continue their refuge in the mountains. They must return home...
Play as MARS (Machine of Absolute Retaliation and Safeguard), a robot programmed to exterminate the treacherous aliens who have taken over Razor City. As MARS, you must free Razor City from its domination in order to save the survivors from their doom.
In DarkStorm, you must fight endless waves of aliens. As you pass each wave, the map grows larger, allowing you to explore more. Random collectibles will be spawned throughout the map, including health, ammo, weapon upgrades, and random weapon crates. There are three types of enemies, a Bat, Brute, and Crab. Each enemy has a special set of skills, so you have to watch out as you fighting them. The game includes only one gamemode, which is the endless wave. Once you pass wave 8, the map is completely open for you to explore.

DarkStorm shows promise conceptually but suffers from significant execution issues that detract from the experience. Players criticize poor controls, frequent bugs, lack of polish, UI problems like hard-locked menu resolutions, and suspect the game relies heavily on borrowed or asset-store assets rather than original work. Despite decent graphics and an interesting giant robot concept, the game feels rushed and underdeveloped, though a small number of players found it enjoyable.

"DarkStorm" is a rather badly made third person shooter with a science fiction theme. Take on the role of a giant robot to save the city from aliens or something. All you do is shoot a bunch of aliens, get stuck on walls and wrestle with the godawful controls and handling. I don't know how much of this is just a Unity asset flip, but it certainly has all the low quality gameplay problems that certified asset flips have... while this looks promising, I think the developer bit off way more than they could chew. Testing, polish, and actual enjoyable, bug free gameplay aren't "optional". The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever. Gamers can tell... and it comes across as insincere. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad…3 found this helpful
I first heard about this game from an interview with the Geek Freaks, and the interview sparked my interest. While I know how much it hurts to receive a negative review, understand that I am doing it from a position of love. I think the concept of what you have here has a lot of potential, but the game is hampered by its execution. Here are some issues I ran into while playing that need to be cleared up: -The main menu navigation is hard-locked to 640x480, creating black sidebars. This leaves a bad first impression in an industry where first impressions are everything. -The chatbox where you receive communications could be aligned further to the right of the screen so as to not get in the way of any gameplay going on. -Speaking of the chatbox, when it was full, it immediately went on to the next text without giving me a chance to read it ("It is always important to remember to-Good Luck, MARS!"). A coroutine of waiting 2.5 seconds or so before moving on would do wonders. -Near the end of the tutorial, I got stuck in a loop where it would show me a cutscene of Thorns lurking about, then when I tried to continue, would show it again. I had to take a different route between buildings …
